I'd let the Office of Fair Trading know about it. That should open up a can of worms you'd hope!

I forgot to add that the letter (and fridge magnet reminder card) are organised and written on by the chick with big jugs that wanted me to spend a fortune on paint chip protection and something else I LOL'ed at...

In the mail yesterday I get a letter from the dealer I purchased my car from advising me that I have a servie booked in on 24 August at 8am for the 7,500 'scheduled service'. I have to call them and advise whether or not that time suits and make an alternate time if it doesnt.....

That's a bit presumptuous isnt it? Assuming I will run to the dealer for an oil/filter change? If it was a letter advising that the time for the change was coming up and provided me with their service center phone number or something like that, it wouldnt be so bad. But to tell me they've already made me a day and time, which would confuse people that had no idea this service didnt have to be done by the dealer to preserve the roadside assist is a bit rude I reckon!

Has anyone else had a dealer do this??

Yes. Got my car at the same dealership.

They do it after every service automatically (so your 1500km service).

I've called that dealership and inquired being that there is no 7500km service in the log book. They couldn't give me a reason other than it is "recommended".

Did it with my old car which was from there too, it got to the point where I just ignored them because their service dept is very very overpriced.

Was she wearing a purple top, fairly old bird trying to be 20 years old? If so she was a moron, my salesman told her I had a family friend who was doing it all for me so I spoke to her for about 4 minutes before she realised she wasn't getting anything out of me.

Nah wasn't the same bird - this one was mid 30s - kept me in her office for about half an hour just gibbering non-stop before I could even get a word as short as 'no' in. She must have a third lung working somewhere, I am not sure she stopped to breathe throughout her tirade of scraped wheels, stone chips and '5th Dimension' hoo haa.

Well as it happens, I won't be in NSW on the date of their pre booked service, but being so busy in the lead up to my trip, I can't see myself remembering to call them and cancel it.

I go to them too. My last car had a mixup of number plates so they had me in twice. I would ring & tell them when I want the car done each service. But I would also get a letter telling me another time & I would think what's going on. Then I got a letter to say I have voided my warranty because I hadn't been servicing the car. But I had been. I don't know how many times I had to tell them about being in their system twice. Eventually it got worked out & still had warranty. & silly me went & bought another car from them. Never again!!!

Wow. So they pull the "warranty will be void" card as well! Sounds like an excellent dealership folks.

Wow sounds like my experience with my VRX wasn't all that uncommon then!

I went to one of the largest dealerships in Newcastle. I explained I had decided I wanted to get a Lancer VRX, already driven one etc etc BUT, did not want to wait for delivery. I wanted the car ASAP (I'm an impulse buyer).

They seemed to do a decent job on getting me a good trade, and despite my request to go through my existing finance company they decided they could get me a better deal, and got me refused instead. I went to my finance company and had the finance for the car 15mins later. THEN, they told me that they "had" to tell me it would be a 2 week delivery but they get cars in within 2 days all the time! They knew I wouldn't want to wait. A bit over a week later I cracked it and went to see the other mitsu dealer in Newcastle. He was no hassle, I showed him the deal the other car yard had written up when they had my finance refused and he said not only would be match it .... he'd give me the sunroof I wanted in the first place for the same money. When asked about delivery he said I could have it that afternoon. HOW AWESOME!

I rang the initial company up and said I didn't want their vehicle any more. Despite being a little miffed, I was polite. The saleswoman told me it should be fine but she would have to speak to her Manager when he came in the next day. He emailed me threatening me saying I had a contract and I HAD to purchase through him. When I explained I had no such contract and his delivery date was an out and out LIE to stop me going elsewhere he then emailed me threatening their legal debt to charge me a close to $2000 contract breaking fee. I returned email stating he can get his legal dept to send me the bill, and I would pass it to my solicitor. His next email asked me if I wanted to pay cash or card!!

I again explained that he can send me the bill, and my solicitor would take a look at it and get back to his legal team over it. It was quiet a few days, and then he emailed me nice as pie to say that my car was delivered and it would be ready for pick up in 2 days. I just ignored the stupidity from that point and never replied, and to this day (4 months later) have no heard a peep from them.

Most happy in my new car, most happy with a sales dept not interested in hassling me and when they asked me if I would be interested in paint and fabric protection etc and I said no, they didn't try talk me into it!

With my girls car we skipped the local Ford dealer because it was the owner of the mitsu dealer who had tried to screw me. We started at ELN Ford in Tuggerah and kept heading south looking for quality service and understanding. She signed the papers at Thompson Ford in Parramatta ... 300km from her house. The salesman there was top quality and if I were to buy a Ford ever again I wouldn't hesitate to drive to Sydney to do so.
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

You know who you are :)

Sounds like a tough break Loki, but good to see you got there in the end!!!

I got my car from Booths at Gosford and have to say when buying the car they were awesome. I had issues with finance due to starting a new job at the same time I bought the car.

They were patient and fantastic. It ended up taking 3 weeks to sort everything. It wasn't till I had a couple of issues that the bad service started. All sorted now though :)

I'm getting stuffed around from Knox Mitsubishi and I'm still waiting for my ES (it's been about 6 weeks). Calls take ages to be returned and when promised an update call it never arrives. There's also a couple of other things that have made my new car buying experience less than ideal. I'm at the point where I've given up and am just hoping my car arrives soon. For all servicing and referrals I'll end up going elsewhere unless something amazing happens to earn my respect.

Interesting story there Loki, unbeleivable what some dealers try on, truly pathetic! :P

So what delivery timeframe did they promise you when you signed up? I'd pay the dealer a personal visit to explain himself & if not satisfied complain to head office. Oh yeah, demand some free $hit as well!

I'm all for Penfold. All 3 cars in my family are from them. They don't muck you about. They tell you a price, you ask for more, they give you another price. You don't want to buy at that price, they tell you thank you and send you on your way.
