CJ vs Kangaroo

Postby Graham » Sun Sep 20, 2009 10:52 am

Similar to Evo X vs Horse but the Lancer doesn't come out best this time.. Well maybe from the kangaroo's point of view it did.

Pics are at the following link:
http://www.car.godgraham.com/lancer/crash/
Saves me uploading and resizing them.

Was testing a cruise map for the hills and this bugger jumped out infront of me. was roughly 80km out of perth and had no phone reception so I'm glad it wasn't worse otherwise I would've been stuck there for a very long time.

The only damage that I can see would be
Part of the bonnet is bent, no biggie.
Light is smashed, the high beam stopped working and about 5 minutes later the HID exploded
Front left panel is bent so that'll probably need replacing
front left door is the same, some of the material broke aswell.

The main thing is that it still drives okay but I'm gonna hate calling the insurance company tomorrow. My excess is $1750 so I'll probably need to take out a loan just to be able to afford to fix it.
(I might get a $2500 loan and get an Evo X spoiler & Vortex Generator from shadows while I'm at it :P )
I'm pretty bummed about the whole thing though :(

Yeah I would've hated a head-on with the roo.

I would've kicked it but I figured it was already dead so I'd let it be. lol.

Well lucky your ok & the roo paid dearly for it.

Think you got at least 3k worth of damage there, sux but insurance might be your way to cover it.

it wasn't that scary, it was more the "oh cr@p here we go.." as soon as I saw it and hit the brakes. glad the airbags didn't go off though or that would've cost even more and i dont think you can start it of the airbags go off??

Yup, gonna call the insurance company tomorrow and sort it out.
Do you reckon they'd just buff out the bumper/door or replace it?

That really sucks Graham, at least it wasn't worse.

As for if they repair the panels or replace, you would have to ask the smash repairer. The insurance company generally go with what they suggest.

Well when I got hit & my passenger door panel got damaged, they ended up replacing the door skin.

Would say you'll need to get new bumper & fender, dont know if they can salvage your bonnet if its buckled.

Graham,
Very sorry to see that mate, glad you are OK and it wasn't worse, airbag deployed etc.

Mate I have to ask why is your excess so damn high and who are u insured with???
If you want, PM me , I may be able to suggest some alternatives.
If you are carry such a high excess to keep your premium to an absolute min then I still think you are getting screwed over.
Let me know. :D

Poor cj, at least it's driveable and your OK could have been worse.

I noticed in one of the pic's that the windscreen was cracked, did the roo do that too?
