Same, im from QLD and Ive driven a old crappy diahatsu charade and currently a VRX and ive never been pulled over in 2.5 years. Maybe just lucky.

On a side note: The tinting/privacy glass on my rear window is very dark and I have one of those P plates that stick to the inside of your window. It is impossible to see from the outside (even if you know where to look). Is that illegal? Because the law says i must display it, and i am displaying it :) - The front one is visible.

@SPARK-VRX: doesn't matter as the privacy glass is pretty much stock, so cops can't accuse you of anything... .

The law says you must display it visibly. That is not visibly. I've seen P platers jam their P plates so far up behind their number plates you only see like an inch of the bottom of the "P". Srsly. It's not that hard.

Photo ID is the only way you can prove your identiity, You can rattle off any number you want but if they cant put a face to it then how can they rerify you? Also it is a condition of your licence to carry it so you must or you shouldn't be driving. As for them getting your licence number wrong they will still get you in court if you choose to contest it. Judges aren't as leanient anymore

I dont see why you need to carry your license with you when you are driving.

It is very easy for the police to check on their data base which is linked to their monitor in their vehicle.

From the RTA website:

The NSW Government introduced a range of initiatives on 1 July 2007.
Changes include:

Changes to the display of L and P plates on vehicles.
L or P plates may no longer be displayed from inside your vehicle. All learner and provisional drivers must clearly display their L and P plates on the front and back of the outside of the vehicle. The letters L and P on the plate must not be hidden. The penalty for incorrectly displayed plates is two demerit points and a fine.

Reason: Sorry mate, realised your in QLD, Laws may be different.[/quote]

Legal or not in which ever state, it's common courtesy and sense to display your L/Ps to other drivers and law enforcement clearly. (I know i'm sounding like a grumpy old fart now.....)
