My lancer progression :)
Well as some of you might know im on my Ls at the moment and ive been driving a 2009 lancer sportback, ugh i know. the sportback is not mine its my sisters, sedan all the way . anyways its an auto and soon i should be moving onto manual to get my manual license and from what i see that is in the driveway there is a 2010 lancer sportback es there in manual that i will be learning manual in and im hoping that i can get a black 2008 lancer sedan when i get my P plates later on. im leaning towards gettin a auto, (i will be getting a manual license tho) just because its sooo much easier. and i sometimes really cbf shifting gears all the time
I voted manual
I had my auto licence when I bought my CJ (When I got my licence there was NO manual for me to learn in, I postponed getting my licence for 6 months trying to get manual aswell, but in the end I got auto)
I wanted to buy a manual and then use that to learn manual and go for my test, but if I did it would void my insurance and warranty straight away so I went with the CVT.
I would've preffered a manual, but you can still have fun in a CVT

lol adrian. but i do agree. manual or dont bother getting a manual licence. you will forget how to drive it and kill someone on the road seeing as your gonna be a P plater. and if your gonna be like everyother P plater is your gonna go OMG that car is better then mine, i can race it and beat.
or omg that car looks better then mine, im gonna race it and beat it.
or if you get a commo. your gonna be like OMG cars. im gonna drive like a "badword" and look for the nearest tree to wrap my car around, kill a few people have no insurance. and then buy another crappy commo, with your doll money. caues you dont have a job.
anyway you may have realized i have absolutly no idea what this has to do with you.
but its a good life lesson.
if you see a better car then yours or a nicer looking car. racing it off at the lights doesnt make your car anybetter. infact it just makes you look like a tool.
i know i drive with tools everyday going to work. they all ways try to race me. yet i dont give a "badword". (i put badword in my self as my work computer will block this otherwise)
anyway, yer manual or dont bother getting a licence.

I had 2 auto Magna's and a Manual VW Bora. Bora wasn't the most power of the bunch but it was by far the most fun.
Couldn't get the CJ in manual as the other half drives it to work everyday ( I catch a train ). I did test drive the manual VRX and the clutch and gearbox was easier to drive than the Bora.
Get the Manual Or if you get the CVT, do the paddle shift mod lol.

If you drive a lot on the highway and want to save fuel, get the CVT. If you don't go on highways a lot and actually want to drive the car, get the manual.
Our Lancers really should have been 6 speed manuals... especially the 2.4litres... 3,000rpm in 5th at 100 and a bit is too much.

On the trip down to Coffs last month, I challenged the QLD guys to a feul ecomony competition... The 2 lowest NA cars got a prize and the lowest RA also got a price... We reset all out averages before we left the meet point and read them when we got to Coffs.
Results were surprising...
The 2 lowest in the NA cars was Myself and drake89, both achieving 6.9L/100. We both have 2.0 5MT VRX
Rob_VRX with a 2.0 CVT VRX got 7.6L/100 from memory
I was in the front, so everybody else slipstreamed off me HAHA

Oh wow that is surprising.... the CVT does a lot lower RPM on the highway - I wonder why it uses more juice then... must be that it is labouring more on hills, whereas the M/T puts the engine in a better torque range.
On highway, the 2.4L at the posted speed limits (either 100 or 110) does about 7.1-7.4L/100km with air con on - not too bad I guess, but I thought CVT would have been less doing lower RPM - obviously not!
