Problem with led parkers

Postby Gleno » Mon Oct 03, 2011 4:04 pm

Installed led Parkers the other day and they worked fine. However I took one of them out today because there was another Parker light I wanted to try that i got with my narva lights. However when after I out the led light back in, it wouldnt work and I noticed that there is a tinge of brown around the housing where the Parker fits in. Anyone know does led lights can blow as well?? I out the oem Parkers back in and they work fine.

it's rare for led lights to blow as it's a diode rather than a bulb they generally last thousands of hours

i've had a few stop working though, cheap ebay ones that could've been dodgy soldering or something..they also got brown, i'm guessing from water on it

the SMD LEDs i find are the most reliable for parkers.

www.oznium.com <-- i'd also highly recommend these guys for LEDs, never had a problem with any of their products and really fast shipping time from USA

Maybe i didn't Ron , when i first put them in, I put one in the wrong way cause it didn't work, took it out and turned it around and then was working ok. Today when I took one of them out to try this other bulb and I may have placed it in the wrong way again, that could explain it. I can always buy another set I suppose not the end of the world.

Before you buy more - try it both ways. I think they have reverse polarity protection. At least the Jaycar ones do.

Also check the terminals to ensure they are straight. Sometimes the wire does not go in straight so it won't make contact.

Also I noticed with a couple of the T10 blades I had to not push it right in, had to leave it out a few mm...

And to save stuffing around pulling them in and out, put 12v across it with an external battery ( even a 6v Dolphin torch battery will do ).
