Cheap LED Lighting Thought.

Hey guys, new to this site, and never really done any car modifications before. I like all the pics about LED's in fotwells and the like, but am a bit put offish by the fact that some form of cutting, pulling apart, wiring, soldering, blah blah blah needs to be done.

Since I won't be using this very often, just every now and again, is there an LED product, where i can stick it to my footwells, and also run it off say a AA battery with its own switch or something?

Appreciate any help.

If this has already been done I apologise, i don't think so though, most of what i've seen is some form of cutting/soldering etc.

12cm strip with 12 LEDs.

30cm strip with 15 LEDs.

24cm strip with 24 LEDs

24cm strip with 24 LEDs

I was thinking the 15 LED ones would be good enough for me... since I don't want it too bright. What do you guys think?

I just went to autobarn and picked up 4 12" neon tubes. If you remove the center console, there is a 12v harness which you can easily tap into for power hook up. Simple stuff.

Tadz - me and ba!nesy r coming around for u to hook us up to this centre-console treasure trove of 12v POWA!!!!

lol - piggy back off the ciggy lighter circuit is it? That's what I did for 12v in my old car ;-) Was way easy in that tho as the ciggy lighter fell out of its socket one day...

I wanna do this too - we'll make it a joint project?

Easy done jazzy. Let me know when and where and its a done deal

And yeah, in the VRX they have an extra cigarette lighter in the arm rest console and since we dont have it in the ES, its just an empty harness under the console

wait - is that under that little easy-to-pop-out 'change holder' thing infront of the cup holders??

There's 2 connectors in that i dunno what they're for?

Nah nah nah, those have to do with AWD systems or fog lights or something, i cant remember lol.

If you take out the cupholder part of the console, you will just see a white harness that goes no where, thats a 12v point for the cigarette lighter in the VRX. I might have a pic somewhere, ill upload it if i find it to show you

It's a blue and black thin cable guys. in a white connector. Under the cup holder section.

The other harnesses under the pop-out pocket are for AFS (on the HID headlights, its steering lights) and AWC for the RA's AWD system.

Here we go...Not the best pic but it serves its purpose.. *click to enlarge the pics*

The place where ive circled is where the harness originally was. Tbh, i ripped it out because it was on a wicked hard angle to put any sort of spade plugs into it without damaging it.

Heres a diagram of basicly what i did

12v red, black negative (duh)

The neons i bought, 2 ran off a single cigarette lighter plug, so i only needed a double adapter for the 4 neons
