Got my 6000k HIDs today and installed...very happy with the result....

i don't know what all the fuss is about ... because these have a pretty good cut off point ..

Take a picture of your headlights on a wall and post it up. Want to see how big the spread on the 6000k hids are

yeah no probs! didnt get a chance tonight was at work! will do it tomorrow.. there is a pretty good cut off line from what i saw tonight... and it looked as if it didnt even touch the cars windows/mirrors infront of me..

Yeah, id really like to see it. Because if i ever did go HIDS, it would only be 6000k. And the likely hood of going the 6000 is fair low. Might just pick up a set of 4300k bulbs or whatever they are.

When i bought the car, the first thing i bought for it was those white bulbs! Too bad the idiot there sold me the wrong ones and i couldnt be bothered waiting for the new stock to come in!

i had Phillips Crystal Visions before i installed these... and the difference is huge... very clean bright light! wouldn't ever go back...! hopefully they last !

Looks good, tbh i see a lot of cars with HID's installed driving around and 80% of them i don't have a problem with at all... most people dip their headlights so their not blinding.

I think the people that make it seem like all HID's are blindingly dangerous - and thus start guys like SIR-VRX on a crusade against HID's... are the people who drive around with their headlights pointing into peoples windows and mirrors & use like 55w bulbs instead of the standard 35w ones.

I do know all the theory about why their bad and obviously they can never be fully safe (because u just never know) in a reflector headlight... but I think in practical terms it's not as bad as some people make out (as long as you make an effort to make it better for other drivers).

That's sort of thinking is one of the reason why victoria accident rate is so high. It is not solely because of bad drivers, but the lack of a sense in having a duty of care for others on the road. All you lot care is how good and effective your lights for yourselves more than if you will be a hazard on the road.

All it takes is a lack of vision and concentration, and accident can happen. And the worst part is, that glaring vehicle is almost certain not to be involved at all. Do people actually have to get bitten once before they are shy? Road accidents have such a high chance of casuing death.

Know that just because you are not affected by retrofited HID, doesn't mean the same retrofited HID will not blind others. Various factors like sitting position, height of driver, eyesight of driver, driver fatigue level etc. are in play. Not every single drivers on the road are the same.

Agreed. Fully. Sir VRX has a point to in his rants, and i fully support him there too.

Well I’ve made my opinion known in the past with aftermarket HID’s… I’ll leave it at that. Good luck with them Andros.

Think common sense goes out the door these days in the name of vanity … funny to see all these douche’s drive around with their foggies on with no fog in sight!

most 'fog' lights that are on newer cars are actually 'driving lights' not meant for fog at all.

First of all, get your facts straight. 55W is the standard, not 35 Also, I have you know my lights are aimed perfectly, as per the Australian Standard.

And I have never said ALL HIDs were blindingly dangerous. Just aftermarket setups in the incorrect lenses. Like these ones.

Perhaps you should go research about the production of light and lens optics and how the two are needed to work in unison to produce efficient light.

These are dangerous, whether or not in your opinion "they are aimed low" etc.

Also, Fog lights are another thing that get me peeved off. I have only used mine 3 or 4 times, in foggy conditions like they are meant to be used. ANDROS, the newer cars are not actually "driving lights" as 'driving lights" must only come on with the high beams, as per the ADR. So they are fog lights. Whether or not the optics in the fog lights are designed for this purpose is another matter. Compare the output and beam pattern of a European or Japanese car's fog light to that of a Commodore/Falcon and you'll soon see which ones were designed for vanity over function.

Well actually.....What makes a fog light is the fog pattern. Inside a fog light is a small light diffuser that spreads the light out sideways and reduces the distance. Many cars have lights that shoot straight forward and are basically another set of lights (just like headlights) on the car but at a lower level.

It has been noted many times that HID's are illegal. Peoples personal preferences aside, this thread was started by ANDROS to show people the modification he did. I will start a thread that people can have their say on it to argue and put their point across for as long as they like.
