Factory look DRLs for VRX with Fog Lights

I've seen these on eBay for a while, what do we think?
And has anyone else tried them?

They appear to fit the VRX style bumper and are the only ones I've seen that look genuine but I know they are not. That said you get to keep the fog lights and are a lot cheaper than the real genuine ones that replace the fog lights.

Thinking of getting some before my 5000km road trip later this year for some added safety.

I'd get them professionally installed to make sure they work and come on automatically when you start the car or off when the head lights (not parkers) turn on.

Looking at the exact same ones. Unfortunately I tried getting some more info from the supplier and had no luck at all. If you buy them would love to know about fitment.

There are 2 that look identical,

This one from China for $126.48.

And this from Hong Kong for $139.99, which I did contact to confirm a few things.

The should both come with the relay for auto on/off and are probably from the same original manufacturer. But would you trust the Hong Kong one over the China one because it's a little more expensive?

the Chinese place would get them from the same place as the Hong Kong ones. Not like they are that far apart. The extra freight would be freight from China to HK.

I have gotten stuff from China and Hong Kong in the same amount of time.

so I would say get the Chinese ones.

I'm the long run I'm like one of those headlight units what have DRLs and angel eye built in but I think for $126 the cheaper one is worth getting, worse case they stop working.

It just amazes me with more people now wanting DRLs and adding them to older cars that more companies don't make them including the factories. The only option Mitsubishi has is the replace your fog lights to get ones costing 3 times as much!

I fitted some generic ones to my old Lancer and they work great, set them to turn on when the car is started, not on ACC. And off with the parkers but I would like to change them to turn off only when the headlights.

Taken the plunge, just ordered the cheaper ones.

ETA is between June 17 - June 30.

So the ETA was way off, got them this morning. Didn't even here them knock.

Test fitting one right away, not sure about the chrome but I can paint them later.

Once I get them working I'll deal with painting them, hopefully they will be working next week.

The plastic feels cheaper than the stock fog light surround but it looks okay once on the car, can't wait for get them hooked up!

You can run both. That's what i want to do also. You are allowed to add up to 4 pairs of extra lights, so can run the drls on the headlights and the drls on the lower bumper.

They look good though. After you have painted them black will go with you black theme :D should do your badges while you're at it imo ;)

Or yellow ;)

I hooked up a 9v battery and they light up, I can install them but I'd prefer a sparkie to do the wiring so I don't screw up the car or new lights.

Um dumb question but I'm getting the wiring done later in the week and to speed up things I'm planning on removing that plastic cover over the radiator so I have access to run the wires.

Is it okay to run the car with out it. I assume it's more for show than anything mechanical as long as the air intake is in place?

I have seen people run for ages without a cover over the radiator. So I would say yes.

Thought as much.

At a guess I'd say it aids in air flow around the engine for better cooling but that said why put a plastic cover over the engine just to make it look cleaner?

Every new car has one but you'd think it would have better cooling with more air flowing around the engine bay?

This thread will be updated Thursday or Friday with some pics of them installed, hope to paint them on the weekend depending on the weather.

Step 1 - install the lights and wiring.

Now just need the sparkie to wire it up in the morning!

Might need to do something about that big ugly number plate

Not sure about the chrome around the DRLs. Not as bad as I first thought now they are both on the car but I still might paint them. Even if it's with plastic dip paint to see how the look.

Also changed the thread title to better suit the thread.
