My guess is you will have to change the OEM to an Aftermarket kit to do so.

Hoges replied & wrote:No u can change them. You just need to buy the right bulb type. The bulb type is in your owners manual

No === "NO"
u can change them. === "YES"
Which answer is it: *crazy* *confused* *doh* *frusty*

@ jitesh88 .... I'm assuming you have an Aspire, MY12 Ralliart or EVO,
since these are the only Lancer models that come fitted with Factory OEM HID Head-Lamps.

If "Yes" .... then the OEM HID Globes fitted to your Lancer are: D2S Style -- 35watt -- 4300K
Your HID Ballasts fitted to the underside of the Head Lamp will be a 35Watt Ballast.

D2S globes are also available "Aftermarket" in 2 different Wattage's & 4 Different Color Temps:
Wattage's: 35W & 50W
Color Temps: Yellow 3000K, White 4300K, Pure White 5000K, White/Blue 6000K.

You "CAN" change to a different Color Temp Globe eg: 5000K or 6000K by keeping the OEM 35W Ballast.
But you "CANNOT" change to a different Wattage eg: 50Watt's .... unless you also change to a 50W Ballast.

D2S HID Globe.... "2" = Hi & Lo Beam in one Globe.

Replacing the Globes is relatively easy .... access is behind the Head-Lamp assembly.
Replacing the Ballast's however requires removal of the Head-Lamp's which means you firstly have to also remove the Front Bar .... *doh*

@Sam

thanks heaps man. I am not tempted to go for a 6000K HID globe :)

nah not interested in 50W as i am pretty happy with the 35W

and yea i do have an aspire. love that car :)

btw whats the difference between D2S, D2C and D2R ?

just out of curiousity. you seem to know a lot about HIDs :D

@ jitesh88 .... I don't know all that much .... just what I have been told & read on the web.

The "R" in D2R bulb types stands for "reflector," which means that the bulb is designed to be used in reflector-type headlights.
Reflector headlights use a parabolic reflector to gather and focus the light, and use the black part of the bulb for control.

The "S" in the D2S bulbs stands for "shielded," which means the bulb is designed for use in projector-type headlights.
Projector headlights use a reflector to gather the light and a lens to focus and control it.

The bases of D2S and D2R bulbs have slightly different notches, and as a result, "DO NOT" fit into each others socket.
A D2C bulb is an aftermarket alternative that has notches to fit either the D2R or D2S bases.

I realise the headlights have "Auto level" in the OEM HID's, but is it possible to adjust the height at all. My week old Ralliart has the factory HID package and I find that the low beam doesnt really light up far enough in front of the car.
I drive to/ from work at ungodly hours on 100km/hr roads with no street lights and find I cant see enough in front with low beams.
Anyone have any ideas, around town the hids are awesome though I will add!!!

Yup very long Philips head screwdriver. Theres a guide hole if you open the bonnet and look straight down at the light housing. its kinda in the middle of the light at the back. You'll just see a tiny orange plastic gear that you can turn with the screwdriver.

If you've got the time/skills you can pop off the front bumper and get access to the back of the lights and theres 2 main bolts to get better up down left right adjusment
