Deal ... that'll save me a bunch of fiddling around with relays :)

Thanks Adrian.

So you figure there's no issues with having them still on with the headlights on? I'd just worry about getting pinned by a cop classing them as fog lights.

They are not DRL if they are on with the headlamps.

DRLs can only be on if the headlamps are not. There's nothing about the handbrake either.... it looks like they are operated by the ignition from my reading of it - which is also backed up by Hella's description I posted earlier in the thread.

Check Paragraph 6.19.7 of Appendix A on page 89 of this document.

http://www.frli.gov.au/ComLaw/legislation/legislativeinstrumentcompilation1.nsf/0/AD0ABC1330FAE9BFCA2575FC0030BA3B/$file/ADR1300Am3Compilation.pdf

There is a legal standing for DRLs - ADRs 76/00 and 13/00.

What lights do you have LZY_EYE??

I have some SIR-VRX / LZY_EYE Limited editions :P

They are run around the fog light covers. 8 LED globes either side running off the parkers.

They are a neat install! But not really DRLs, more decoration lights. The LEDayFlex by Hella would be great to install like you have....

I'd be wiring them to a manual switch.

SIR-VRX wrote:Nope, as they will either be classed as DRLs or parking lights.

However, sine the car was not homologated with them, it is up to the police officer or transport officer's discretion whether or not you will be defected. But it can be cleared easily as there is no legal standing for them.

I posted an article somewhere here that new HSV & Merc owners were being pulled over by cops mistaking them for foggies. Had to point out they are oem with the car.

I probably would as well, mainly because it would be easier - although Hella appaer to com pre wired somehow to oeprate with ignition on and headlamps off (probably run off the headlamp relay I'd think).

The only problem with manual is I'd kick myself each time I went driving and forgot to turn them on!

hey there are other brands as well like piaa as well for DRLs and i reckon they are cheaper too..... but the problem i reckon is installation cuz the our lancers grille design make it quite difficult to.... i tried to do it in singapore with some piaa ones on my mates cj there and its pretty hard to mount it without looking weird.... oh these are the piaa ones....

why not just make some its heap cheaper. if you want DRL's even buying luxon LED's like the PIAA ones, you can make your own cheaper.

The Deno5 look ok in white. Thanks for sharing I didnt know about them before. They won;t be the easiest to fit nicely though. They might be able to go in a cut out of the lower grille, as far apart as possible either side of the numberplate. Not sure if you'd get the required 600mm separation or not and whether or not they are E marked and ADR compliant.
