Ebay Footwell LED Kit

Postby nanagn » Thu Feb 09, 2012 4:53 pm

I am thinking of purchasing the set linked below and installing them into the footwells and under the front seats.

Has anyone bought anything similar?
I'm concerned about whether or not the lights are bright enough although I suppose with 6 strips I could install 2 in each footwell.

Thanks for the link. I have actually pulled apart my centre console and figured out how to do it. The cheap quality of my centre console makes it very easy to take apart.

i actually bought the 4 pc version of that kit and the LEDs started dieing after a month so i really wouldnt reccomend them at all. i now use them on the back of my tv for a green glow since thats the only color that works anymore :/.

i then purchased these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4pc-7-COLOUR ... 761wt_1253

and those have been working fine for the past couple of months, no issues yet

would anyone know how to tap into the interior lights, so it only turns on when the doors are opened?

You will need to buy a test light (if you don't have one). Locate the wires in the roof to the interior light and trace them under the dashboard. Test which wire has the power when the door is opened and looses power when the door is closed (this is the wire you tap into). Do Not Use Scotch Locks. Either solder or use correct electrical terminals.

It is easier to splice into the wires by the fuse box behind the glove box.
