Here's the DRL ive fitted the come on with the key and dim 50% when the headlight are turned on.

hey mate did u cut the grille to fit em?

Yes i cut a section out and mounted the light to the bumper then refitted the black grill.
The lights are bright enuff to drive with at night with out headlights.
The car is in midvale most days, send us a PM if you want to check them out.

Nice install! Just one question - do they face forward or are on the angle like the grille - hard to tell from the pictures although it looks like they face a bit outwards.

They look like Hella imitations?

I have round ones to put in my car where the foglights are at the moment.

They face out to the sides a small amount from straight foward.

I have 2 different type of white led's. I am not sure which one I like better.

They come on with the ignition as I wired them to the cigarette lighter.

The first one has less led's but they are bigger and brighter.





I would like peoples opinions which one they like better.

"WOW"They both look good.
They need to be placed more central on the Fog Lamp Grille Plate when you finally decide which one's you will go with.
I'd prefer the one with the more LED's and lower brightness if I were selecting some.

Yes I decided to fit the smaller led's to both sides. I think it looked better after thinking about it and looking some more.

Sam I fitted the lights where they are as I could not fit them any closer to the centre of the car because of the screw that holds the cover on. The wiring actually goes through one of the holes.

I think it is more practicable to the side as it helps other drivers seeing them from the side.

I used a 5 pin relay, which has one Normally Open and one Normally Closed circuit with a switching signal to switch between the two:



There are two types of 5 pin, one that activates two pins when the circuit is thrown, and one that switche between two pins. The differencve is that th first kind will have two 87 pins, the second will have an 87 and an 87A. You want the second type, I got it from supercheap. The way I have it wired up is this:

(30) 12v main: Accessory wire (spliced into cigarette lighter)
(85) Earth: Car Chassis
(87A) Load on NC circuit: Wired down to DRLs positive
(87) Load on NO Circuit: Not used
(86) Switch Wire: For this I spliced into the blue wire leading to the driver side park lamp.

With this setup, whenever the ACC power is on, the DRLs operate. When the headlights/parkers come on, the circuit gets broken, so the DRLs turn off.

I actually also incorporated my foglights by slicing the DRL positive wire into the positive wire on the Driver side fog light. This means that my DRLS + Fogs run whenever ACC is turned on, they both turn off when the headlights come on, but if I hit the foglight switch, the fogs and DRLs come on and headlights remain on. If you're not incorporating your fogs though, just do the relay part and the fogs will just function independently.

If this still doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll find time to draw up a full wiring diagram.

My DRL set came with a built-in cut-off circuit so all I have to do is splicing the signal wire from the DRLs to the positive wires of the headlights and whenever they turn on, the DRLs will be off.

I’m just wondering if anyone here might know a way to dim the DRLs to 50% brightness rather than turning it off completely? I tried lowering the Voltage into the LEDs but that just made it lit up 3 out of the 5 LEDs on each side and doesn’t look like it is really dimming LOL. Maybe I need an external LED driver or something?

I know basic electrical stuff but I don’t think I’m that capable of modding this one with asking someone who knows about these stuff

Hey mate ... unless it's a feature of the DRLs you bought, I don't think you'll be able to achieve this feature now. Most LEDs are either on or off, and can't be dimmed as such.

To anyone interested,

I found a way to dim it. All you need is a 12V PWM (Pulse width mudulator) that can be bought at any electronics components shops. It is a circuit that simply turns the LEDs on and off so quickly that human eyes cannot tell that the lights are flashing but instead seeing them as dimmer than normal

Just need some parts & I'm done
