ok well today i installed LED parkers in the position lights. the LED lights that i brought are the 3A Racing T 10 with 6 small LED's on it. my mate did the same thing to his car and he said that his were slowly one by one blowing. has anyone done this to their car and if so how long did yours last?
i got the blue LED's and want to know if they are illegal?

blue are illegal, and if they are set up properly, with proper resistors, then they shouldn't be blowing, they should last up to 100000Hrs. i bought some 5LED ones from ebay for $3 and they are great, bright and white. but mine aren't perfect white as you cant get perfect white LED's as to get white they use a blue LED with a yellow phosphor.
anyway, blue ones are illegal. but its your choice to whether you put them on. as you cant have and blue lights on your car. unless your car is parked and stationary. and the direct light is not visible.

actually they are illegal. as yellow position lights are only legal on goods vehicles and trucks.
only yellow/amber lights a normal car is allowed is Fog-lights and indicators.
only forward facing lights besides fog-lights, and indicators MUST be white.
just as only Rearward facing lights besides number-plate lights and reverse lights MUST be red.
Yellow Side markers are only allowed on goods vehicles and trucks, and vehicles over a certain length.
forward facing yellow lights must only be for fog-lights and be separately switched to headlights.
only rearward facing white lights can only be number-plate lights and only on when reversing. (as white signifies direction of movement.)

That does make sense as to why it shouldn't be allowed, but I'm not totally convinced .
I see lots of trucks that have lots of different colours on the sides including red and blue, some of the smaller 4WD have orange lights on the step to get into the car also.
Is there an ADR or link to a page that can confirm or deny the legality on these?

its in modification laws not ADR's, if it comes standard like a few vehicles then its ok, but if it doesn't its illegal, and this is for QLD. and seeing as states are pretty close to each others modification laws, id asume they would be the same. i know seeing as Melbourne the state in which the question was originally started from. they are stricter then qld, so yer. but if it can be proven wrong then ill agree with it.

Ah. Amber would be seen more easily by people. But anyway... don't BMWs come with some kind of amber parker light system? I've seen splenty driving around without any indicating and they have both sides of the headlights lighted up with amber lights?
