Just thought I'd get the ball rolling with the thread on the GReddy Informeter Touch which I plan to put in my Evo X. I haven't installed it yet but have received the box and taken a few photos of the unboxing process in case anyone was wondering what actually comes with it.

Mine was ordered from eBay and cost approx $450aud delivered from Japan to Sydney Australia (April 2010) and it's version 1.05. Only thing is that whilst the device is bilingual, all the beautiful colour pictures and thick colour brochure/instructions is in Japanese :(

Once it's installed I'll take a video of it :)

So far there's been a lot of threads on various other forums about the issues involved with installing due to voltages etc... and hence they recommend installing the power source of either the cig lighter socket or by tapping into the 12v power (rather than relying on the Mitsu CANBUS). We'll keep this thread updated!

Here's a couple of pictures.

Note: Ignore the red tape in the first couple- they were just there to help ensure the double sided tape/adhesives on the stand were held in place.

Thought I'd add a video for the interest of other ClubCJ members considering one of these:

On another note, if I had a video of a hypothetical person where the Informeter showed a speedo reading of 100km/h-102km/h on a highway which could be recognised as 90km/h (but very clearly identifying who the driver was), would that be a bit too incriminating?

Must be going blind.

What's that piece you've got under the headunit?

The red LCD? That's a Pivot 3Drive Thin; an electronic throttle controller.

I liked the plug and play aspect of the Informeter Touch and the general interface.

Alright I've never had a turbo car or anything so I'll just go ahead and ask my noob questions:

What is the point of this stuff? :P
Why do you need to see the figures?
What does the ETC really achieve and how?

i'm not sure what other things that the informeter will show , but for a turbo car , gauges are really important if your going for more power

monitoring boost and air fuel ratio will be the two most important because if the boost or a/f ratio goes out of control , it'll lead to detonation and knock = boom engine = $$$$ down the drain

Haha but it's also interesting to know how your car is performing and it impacts the way you drive it. If you know the air coming into the intake is really hot for example such as in my case, then you know that your engine won't be performing at it's peak. It could also be indicative of other problems!
