I'd imagine it is an easy to install feature in other markets like Asia where it's usually standard... any idea how to get it fitted locally?

Dam.! - I've been wanting that too ...
I had an after market alarm fitted to 1 of my past cars ...
When U close the door, a pre-set time, eg; 30sec, it will wind ALL your electric windows UP, & lock ALL your doors " automatically "...
I rekon it should be standard for those with the " Smart Key " ... The car senses when ur outta range anyway, why not Lock It after a preset time, if U forget too.? - Hmm.?

I'm reading through the first page of the thread and can't see anything which explains locking your doors automatically when driving off in a similar way to the German cars do?
The closest is automatic door unlock in Park. But that's accessible through the MMCS anyway (along with most of the other options on that list?)

you can actually go into a shop that specializes in car audio and security, they usually have these timer modules. I've installed one on every car i've owned... except my lancer - just havent had the funds to splurge on it yet.

Just get a good alarm system and when you arm it, it will lock the doors.

Yeah, my aftermarket alarm does this...Its a matter of finding one that intergrates into the CAN BUS wiring system aswell. My one isnt suited for the CAN BUS but works anyway..

Has anyone heard of the factory immobiliser not being adequate and allowing theft?

If this is in another thread I apologise...
But, what needs to be done for the doors to lock when you drive off?? Even my cheapo Swift would automatically lock all doors when you released the brake when in gear...

See my original post for the (what we) know of, customisable ETACS features.

In short, to your answer. No. There is apparently an "unlock" function to unlock the car when you put the car into "P" gear position. Never asked a dealer to do it, it may not even be available on the AU version of the s/w.

The VRX won't lock unless you lock it. Except if you unlock it, and not open a door as you mentioned.
