Auto folding mirror installation

Postby jordan.fuchs » Thu Feb 13, 2014 12:52 pm

Hey guys,

I bought a set of OEM Auto Folding mirrors from a wrecker yesterday, got them installed fine (plugged original wiring harness into the new mirrors) put the switch in and enabled the Folding Mirrors in the ETACS but the mirrors don't fold. I can adjust the mirrors fine, but they won't fold.

The wrecker (Younis) assures me that he bench tested the mirrors and they definitely worked, he was as stumped as I was.

Any suggestions?

Yeah mate, put the different switch in there but no go, I'll pull it out over the weekend to see if a pin is missing or something. Younis is tracking down the original wiring loom that came with the mirrors (from the donor car) and he said he'd chuck that it for me.

Could it be an ECU thing? (Wouldn't know just asking)

Don't think so.. I enabled the folding mirrors function in the ETACS but that didn't seem to do anything..

As well as the wiring differences, there are two relays in the ETCS that control the folding function (probably not fitted in your vehicle). I am doing a bit of investigating now.....but looks complicated ;-(

The power is shared with the door locking/unlocking so if this is working a missing fuse is not the problem. Can you hear any light 'clicking' when you operate the fold/unfold coming from the ETACS (the white fusebox behind the glovebox)?

OK - I've checked out the wiring - assuming it is a 13MY LX as per your signature...

Looking at the ETACS, top left connector (15-way with a sodding great wire in the middle) there should be a Silver/Black wire and a Blue wire on the lower part (next to the sodding great wire). These are the two wires connected to both power mirror motors (voltage one way round tor close, the other way for open). Above the Silver/Black is a Blue/Green.

Check you have these wires connected (and then stick a test light or multimeter on these for function check).

Hope this helps!

Are they just not folding on locking the doors, i.e can you electrically fold them with the button on the door?
