Kinda sorry I missed this one, but money is still tight and the holidays don't help. Mind you I've been watching some on eBay and need to check with my dealer as to programing costs.
Sorry if I casked before but it's just the over all odometer that need changing right, can the change the trips also? Only ask as I have one set for the total kays I've driven the car since getting it.

You'd lose that one too I imagine, it probably isn't in EEPROM, but just battery backed memory.
Since removing the cluster requires removing power.. well you'd lose the original reading to read off it..
I use it just for tank ks, so it wouldn't be any great loss of data.

It could, but, the issue is to find where it is stored would need a known reading and probing for memory registers to find the ones that match, read that value and write it back.
When you do that though, you wouldn't have it in the car - so it wouldn't have power, when it loses power, it loses the reading, so even if it were known and possible - the reading would be lost when you went to put it back in the car (Loss of power).

Okay didn't realize it would be out of the car when changed, good to know so I have some understanding what I'm talking about when asking the dealer.
Need to be able to afford a cluster first, prices vary so my on eBay, did see one from a MY11 ASX for $200 shipped, about 63k on it, others have been listed for almost double that.
$200 is a good price then?

That's the price Shaun told me he wants -
I wonder how they behave in manual's - Autos use the middle of the color screen to show gear selection.
If you want it, go grab it - I'm not likely to take it - want Mitsu alloy wheels first!

You technically could - but it would be difficult for most as you'd need to figure out what LCD it is, and then reverse engineer what is being sent to it, and then change the memory locations in whatever chip is being accessed to the data you want..
i.e. Way too much effort for what gain it'd have.
Instead of Good-Bye, 'Get Lost' - too much effort for such a small gain.
