adamhumphrey wrote:Found this, could only try. I actually read people enable the horn through the etacs for the alarm.

adamhumphrey wrote:I think it would have to be a canbus alarm. It would make sense to do it that way to avoid extra remotes and it would stop the factory immobiliser getting annoyed with the extra stuff. This wouldnt be a diy install. I used to fit car alarms for a company for many years. They are very compicated.

The other option is to find out what bits are required for the Oem alarm and fit those and enable using ETACs software. Lots of People do this on Peugeot cars. They have similar software and in lots of cases where the same in some cars as the Mitsubishi cars. This is how they originally made stuff to customise the Etacs.

adamhumphrey wrote:I think you only need to add siren or second horn, shock sensor (I have no idea of location and I dont want to post security related things on here) It will have to be enabled within the ETACs box either through dealer or someone who has abilty to do that. Maybe jump on here on facebook they are really knowledgable and would most likely know the answers to everything.

adamhumphrey wrote:Best off checking if thats all you need to add. I can't answer that. I tried to enable it on my wife's (ex now) vrx and it didnt work. It had most stuff. The only thing i could get it to do was chirp when you lock and unlock the same as the evo.

cooyarpjm wrote:The only thing alarms do is notify you of a smash and grab of car contents. Most thieves these days are teen joyriders who break into houses and steal the keys making an alarm mute.
However, i have a service manual for an OS variant of the lancer and in the dianostics that i have been reading, the normal horns (HI/LO) are used in the alarm circuit and the Bonnet switch is not used (Though if connected probably is). The indicator light (next to the hazard switch) is there but the wires are not in the plug (Pins 12 and 15) so these would need to be connected to pins 2 and 9 on connector C-317 (Pin 2 goes to 15 and pin 9 goes to 12). whether connecting these and then activating the alarm in the ETACS KON file would work is another storey.
P.S. This was a pretty quick investigation, i will have a closer look when i get the chance just to ensure i haven't mixed the order of the wires.
