Slightly off topic but why is it you can't get a tow bar for a CJ with a square tongue mount that has a quick release pin when other small cars do have them. I saw a Civic with one the other day.

Towbars Australia is near Caboolture which is a lot closer for me, but I'll check out Aranda and see what they offer.

I did notice on the Towbars Australia website they have standard ones only for my 09 VRX but some newer CJs can have a Medium Duty one.

To the best of my knowledge the Lancer can tow up to one ton so long as the trailer is fitted with brakes. No brakes maximum is 750kg. That is the weight of the trialer PLUS what ever is in it as a max of 750kg or 1 ton respectively

So if your trailer weighs 200 kilo you can throw 550kilo in the trailer and your right on the 750kilo limit

This is all the wiring I've been given. The white plug fits in the ECU so I assumed I was looking for a plug in the car that fits the brown plugs. I have followed the wiring all the way back to the dashboard. The only place I haven't looked in under the passenger seat as it seems some wires go off that direction under the carpet but I was hoping not to have to remove the front passenger seat.

Looks like you have everything but the wire and fuse holder that plugs into the battery. The brown plug should be in the LHR guard area. I'll see what I can track down for you and get back to you on Friday :)

I would contact your local Mitsubishi dealer as they will be able to provide you with installation instructions

Turns out the kit they sent me only fits up to 2011 model, not 2012 (as it was advertised!). So, this explains why it has been such a head wreck to install. Thanks for everyone's help. Hopefully the correct part will be easier to install

hey all, does anyone know if the actual tow bar is the same between sedans and hatches? I know the kits have different part numbers, but there is a hatch at the wreckers with a tow bar with a part number MR936608 which looks like it will bolt up to a sedan.

Also what does the front wiring do, the bit in the engine bay on page 14 of the install instructions above? I checked out the engine bay but couldn't find it, though it had the genuine wiring loom in the back with the ECU MR935797.

Thank you!
