I have a aftermarket reverse sensor kit installed, however it has been bugging me for quite some time that it kicks in instantly.
When switching from Drive to Park; while passing Reverse, the sensor will startup and die shortly after. So there are audible 'beeps' as it announces it's on. It seems it has enough time to power up quickly and die.
I would like to add a 1-2 second delay to the sensors, so that they only really activate when I am genuinely reversing.
I have installed the kit myself so I'm confident in installing a relay? of some sort but I'm unsure if thats the way to achieve this.
My was thinking is on the lines of maybe a product like this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MINI-SMD-TIM ... 702wt_1020
But am not 100% if this is designed to 'keep things on' or actually delay them from starting
Any help is appreciated

Delay for aftermarket reversing sensors

It picks up the signal as soon as the reverse light turns on. Way around it is
Secondary switch. Input from reverse through switch and then output to sensor module.
You control when it turns on then.
Or use accessories instead of reverse so u can turn it on at any time.... Tailgaters or drivers getting right up your back end at lights etc

Hey Fitter,
Yep I understand that,
I'm trying to see if there's a way to stop it powering up for 1-2 seconds when switching gears
I have the sensors wired to a relay using a 12V source as the power and reverse light as the relay trigger. (So it's not to pull too much power from reverse lights as I already have a reverse camera hooked up to it)
I don't want to have a switch to control these as I'd rather a somewhat 'automatic' activation when reversing
Would the eBay item work?
In the item description it says:
"Principe of work:
When power is on, the relay is activated:
/normally open contact (Ob and Not) is closed and normally closed contact (Ob and Nzat) is open/ and keep that position, until end of set time.
By restart power supply - cycle repeat.
Device don't have plastic box, only plate, as see on the picture"

I can't see why it wouldn't work.
I like that 1 beep as u flick through the gears or enter reverse as it lets u know the kit is working still.
I do use a switch when doing front parking sensors instead of relying on the brake to turn them on... When ever u would hit the brake to stop or slow down in traffic u would get a 90dB high pitch tone through the car lol

Thanks Fitter,
I'll go ahead & purchase that item hopefully it works
I wouldn't mind 1 beep, but my kit beeps 3 times when starting up so it gets annoying when switching from gear to gear
I haven't thought about front sensors as yet but *am* interested in installing them in the future
I'd probably wire those to a switch as well
Like you said, it would be annoying to hear a **BEEP** every time you brake lol
Has anyone done a front sensor install for the CJ yet? I'm unsure of the mounting position & would I be looking at 2 or 4 sensors?
