is there anyway to mount a side numberplate, without drilling into the front bumper?

yes. Double sided tape?

Please don't ask how strong it is. I can pull off double sided tape. I can't pull off drilled holes.

Sikaflex:
Strong,Durable and no holes required....
Clean area with prepsol,attach bracket and tape bracket securely for 24hrs until sikaflex cures,and Wha La!

That's if you never want to take your plate off

So will Sikaflex cause paint damage if i decide to remove it later??? i was thinkin of a more preservative method... like cable tieing it to the side-front grill or something. possible??? will it look okay?

Cable tied will look fine Mani
Give it a go you can always change it if you're not happy with the look.

Matt - I checked all kinds of road rules for number plate mounting and could not find anywhere that specifies it must be in a certain position or angle. Take a look at an Alfa 159:

You can put it in your grill though, which is what i have done.. i just used cable ties..
