Does anyone know if the EVO X motorised auto folding mirrors can be fitted onto the lancer and still have the auto folding functions?

Yes it's pretty possible though the ETACS s/w may have to be flashed by the dealer. That's what makes this route prohibitive.

I don't think there's native support for it which is why Shadow's product required an external box.

Any ways that can make the mirrors work?

I'm not quite sure what in my answer you missed.

So let's try again:

The new folding mirrors which will come not only in Evo Xs but in VRs and above. The side mirrors in these MY11 models will contain the motor to allow them to fold. Our original stock ones DO NOT have a motor.

These will be unlikely to be plug and play.

Even if you had a set of these Evo X OEM folding mirrors and combined with Shadow's box, it is unlikely to work as the drivers may be different.

What we learned from Shadow's X-Factor solution?
Shadow's solution needed additional wiring.
MY10s and before contain only only 3 wires from cabin to mirror.
These are used for tweaking the updownleftright of the mirrors.

Shadows added an additional 6 wire harnessing on each side. these wires allow the mirrors to fold and signal indication.

He further needed to give us a small black box to control EVERYTHING which tells you there are no controls in the car to do the folding.

What does this tell us?

So even if you buy the OEM one, you will need to do the wiring and string a wire from your side mirror into the cabin of the car as these earlier models we have DO NOT have the wiring for the folding or signalling in < MY10s.

OK so let's say you understand now there needs to be a wire from the mirror into the cabin of your car where the ETACS ECU is.

Your CAR is NOT programmed with the functionality of mirror folding as the harnessing doesn't exist.
So to get it to work, you will need to get your ETACS ECU to be flashed by your dealer which they may not be willing to do and I think this is your biggest obstacle.

Might I ask why you don't want to simply buy the X-Factor folding mirror package? Does all the same things. If you dont want the signal indicator, you can simply replace the mirror cover with your old one.

I've realised there's one additional advantage with the X-Factor product:
When coupled with the RA Colt Folding mirror switch, you can get it to fold at any time and at any speed.

The OEM ones will out fold when the car is going faster than 30km/h as a safety feature.
