Finally got round to painting the engine, sparkplug, and fuse covers as well as the air intake and that other little bit of the intake that's removed for free SRI mod.
Just did it in body colour with silver emblem and mivec. Its just a subtle difference but thats how I like it.

I am planning this also, we wouldn't need any special primers except for a plastic primer as the covers do not get all that hot do they?

well the posts I read had conflicting info. some said to prime, others not etc. I didnt prime mine but gave them a few good coats of clear over top to hopefully hold it all together. Will let you know if it doesnt work!

Irrespective of what others say work, the correct way is to de-wax and remove grease with an appropriate product (wont mention brands as people always know better ones, so use whatever you like), then use a plastic adhesion promoting primer, as a minimum.
The adhesion promoter chemically binds to the plastic and also presents the best surface for acryllic or enamel based paints to adhere. You should follow the directions, because most adhesion promoting primers need you to lay paint whilst still just tacky.
Good luck.

they all look great guys. like the subtle look you got there tas.
also tryg is spot on about painting plastics. plastics are always really difficult to paint anyway. any half decent auto store should have what you need in way of de-wax and plastic primer as well.
