Follow it and and see if there is any bolts up the sides holding it on the body. May need to remove your bumper. Not sure if you can just cut that off from a roadworthy standing.

Depends on your plans for the back end but yes tow bar can be removed. There may be hole in the boot which will need filling, easiest thing to do is leave the bolts in place.

My CC coupe had holes in the floor for the mounting brackets but other models might have factory mounting points, just lift the carpet and crawl under your CJ and have a look. I've removed it a few times for maintenance/painting, should not be hard to unbolt.

The wiring will need cutting and taping off, just make sure the different wires are not touching.

BTW I've been considering adding a tow bar to my CJ if I can get an exhaust that will work with it and a diffuser, might be a custom job?

I dont have any plans for the back end, just want to take it off because ill never use a trailer and it looks as ugly as a hat full of assholes!
I can see bolts that looks like its holding it on, but just want to make sure it wont do anything to my car...

Shouldn't, the bolts will either be in factory holes made to add a tow bar or holes drilled by whom ever fitted it. It should not be connected to any other parts that need the bolts. Usually there are bolted to the chassis rails as it is a tow bar designed to carry a load.

I thought with the tongue off the tow bar would basically be inviable? Paint it flat black like I did on the coupe. Main reason I've kept it is we have a trailer and use it often and unlike a lot of younger drivers I know how to drive and back with it on.

if you take it to a towbar shop they should be able to remove it for you no problem they might be even able to remove all the wiring that went with the towbar kit

Waste of money, it's a few bolts and the wiring is not that hard to deal with. Just have a look first and you should be able to see if you can do it.

I suggest if you're not sure about the wiring get a sparkie to do that.

What we need is a DIY day, where we can gather and help each other do a few easy jobs like this.

so bit of a late reply but here's an update on my tow bar :)

located all the 8 bolts, unbolted them all and the tow bar just dropped out.
Tried to see if i could follow the harness and pull it back through to boot but had no luck. So i just cable tied the harness to the rear bumper :)
Looks soooo much better!!
