Sportback rear window water pooling - design flaw?

Sportback/hatch owners -
I've been going over my MY10 hatch, touching up all the paint and stuff, and noticed that the paint is pretty severely corroded at the bottom of the rear window where it seems to pool (white car, no clear coat).
I've sanded it back with 2000 and applied touchup paint. Going to go back over it with a few more coats, but the water just seems to follow the edges of the window and keep pooling around the base of the third brake light.
Anyone else have this problem? Could I layer on some sealant or clear coat around the edges to direct the water down the hatch lid rather than around the brake light?

I know water pools in the 'gutter' inside the boot on the sedan if I park noise down and the back is higher but not sure what you mean.
Pictures would be useful.

Yes, mine does it too. It's just the way it's designed unfortunately.

Same MY, same pooling, paint treatment from new with Toughseal and washed with their wash & wax, however no sign of rust.
I wonder if that aspect is due to your location near the sea?
Any rust anywhere else?

Yeah its a hatch in technical terms but it's marketed by Mitsu as a Sportback to be different from the competition.
It is also commonly referred to as "Sexyback"

Yeah, I remember buying mine from the local dealer and I just kept saying 'wagon' and he really started getting the sh!ts with it. Corrected me every time, I still call it a wagon...

Yes poor design but it's probably the same in loads of cars new and old, only dif in older cars it's hidden by trim and you don't notice until the rust starts.
As I said park most sedans with the front lower than the back and water stays inside the gutter under the boot lid. Okay over night but I wouldn't leave a car parked that way long term if I can avoid it.
