Ok, to fill you all in:
I tinted my spare headlight protectors a couple of months ago for ClubCJ drive days, but kept forgetting to put 'em on...
While I was feeling good about my latest attempt to chrome my grille, I thought I'd put them on and see how they looked
- I kinda like 'em, but I'm not the final word in good taste, so here's what they look like - what do you think:
Please feel free to offer constructive criticism...!
and yes, I realise they're probably illegal...

Wouldn't this ping you with the cops? :/ Not sure about how the laws regarding tinting front headlights are though.
It looks pretty cool to do that actually.

Yeah, that's why I tinted my old set and kept my new ones clear, so I can swap them out!

Nice but I think it might be a popo magnet because it's not standard, they hate lights which are to blue, this is blue too. Of topic but how are these attached, I haven't seen them in person

They're the factory headlight protectors - there's a couple of tabs that slide under the headlights and two clips that go over the top of the headlight to secure them.
The blue is just eBay dark blue vinyl from china!

You might be ok with a mild tint as it wouldn't affect the colour of the headlights or indicators... But don't hold me to that!
don't try this at home folks!

Yeah - I had to pop the bottom clips off to get the vinyl on - the only thing holding the clips on is a tiny dimple on the bottom of the headlight protector

If you have the original yellow bulbs and the blue covers installed, the light will actually come out as white. You can probably argue this with the cops as it's the blue beam that's against the law and not technically the colour of the covers.

While it looks good don't you think it will affect your night visibility??..i'd be more concerned about them from a safety point of view more than anything...inner city roads are not the best lit to begin with...

They actually come out very yellow, rather than the amber colour of the side & rear lamps... the blue vinyl is cutting the red spectrum out by the look of it.

I wasn't planning on leaving them on at night, just for toolin' around during the day - I've still got my clear set to chuck on for normal driving (and night time of course - the headlights are very definitely blue!)
