Hey everyone
Im trying to find somewhere in Sydney (Penrith area or surrounding preferred) that sells Haymen Reese style tow bar set ups for my 2012 CJ

I have heard this particular model is harder to get a bar for as the exhaust setup is different (the person i talked to might be talking shit though...)

Anyone have any experience with tow bars at all or know a good place to go?

Thanks in advanced

Havent tried anywhere yet. Looking to find ideas on where to look from people who have already. Trying to save time from hunting around.

I need a bigger one for a motobike rack like this one:

Seriously - do not try something like this on a CJ - you will do some damage to the vehicle - it does not have the rear chassis strength to take the moment load!

I dont see why you would be able to tow a trailer with a total of 1000kg of weight but cant have a rack of 50kg and a bike of 120kg totalling 170kg....

Simply doesnt make sense

The worst i would need to do is put heavier duty springs in the rear but think of 3 "solid" people in the back seat.... that has to be more weight than 220kg.....

There is a big difference between towing weight and tow ball weight.
CJ's will not be able carry a motorcycle as the sub frame(chassis) is not suitable. It would require a lot more then heavier springs.
Easiest way is to get a motorcycle trailer with brakes and fit a flat tongue towbar.

For those doubters......

Try pulling rearwards on a towball on a car and see what happens to front ride height.

Now fit a bike carrier (or similar) and pull rearwards on the top - what you have is a lever.

A standard bike carrier puts enormous strain on the towbar and vehicle mounts. That is why every towbar is labelled 'For towing purposes only'.

Of course, this does not stop us all ignoring that and fitting bike carriers, but bent tongues are very common out there.......

Has anyone actually tried this or just using their "knowledge"

I didnt ask if it was possible. I asked where could do it. I may only end up getting a tow ball anyway and tow a bike trailer. Just looking at options.... not opinions
