Talon Rear Diffuser - paint job

Postby SILK99 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:07 pm

So basically i want to purchase the Talon Rear diffuser for my VRX. i understand it comes standard in a black fibre glass. My vrx being black i decided i want to go the Metallic Grey.

Talon have quoted 450 delivered to melbourne. charging 100 for the paint job, which i thought was fair.

Then the mechanic here (don't want to name names) who offered to order the part for me, have said that talon just use a cheap spray paint? They want to charge me the 350 for delivery, and than another 300 to do the paint.

Has anyone that has the talon diffuser had any trouble with the paint job ? Obviously the cheaper option is what i'd prefer but if the paint is done poorly i'm willing to pay the extra to get it done right.

If your mechanic is reputable get him to do it all for you, that way if he orders in the part and it has imperfections (which is pretty frequent) then he can't charge you for fixing the imperfections. I ordered mine directly from Talon and overall it cost me about $800 as opposed to the $600 rate my body shop would charge to do it all for me. I don't think paint quality is an issue at all, but you should consider what I said above.

yeah sounds right ... like either way i would order through my mechanic. Was just a matter of whether i should get them to order it painted, or let them do the painting
