lukeaday's body kit install

Yeah mate. Acouple of spacers on each side skirt from memory.
I have already done a test fit and they fit fine. The spacers act as packers to help keep the shape. I will do another dry fit before I do the final fit out to make sure they fit perfectly. If the spacers are in the way then off they come.
Did you trim out the top edge of each skirt where they wrap around into the wheel arches.

no i havent needed to mine fitted good besides thoes spacers they put it out of shape when fitted so i had to remove them. when they where on they held the middle out and it skewed the middle up into the door and blocked the door without them it fits perfect. sits nicely, but it still doesnt have alot of attachment places only really the wheel arches and sikaflex unless you want to screw into the visible parts
unless you make up so brackets, i might make up a few for my install some brackets to screw into the bottom of it.

I was going to run a 25mmx2mm ally flat strap along the inside bottom edge and glue it down with sikaflex as well as making a few brackets out of the same ally strap to conect the underside to the car.
Just pump the top edge with sikaflex and clean up what ever comes out. Hold it in place with masking tape overnight and it should be sweet.

I'm getting stuck into the front lip today.
I found out that HOS only uses one coat of acrylic primer and I don't think this is good enough. Dries to hard and chips easy.
This would explain why I had stress fractures all over the primed surface.
On top of this there was some more noticable cracks in the lip which I raised the issue with HOS.
They put it down to transport issues and was out of thier hands. My dad sugested that I try and wash the primer off with thinners and guess what. It pretty much just wiped off
After washing all of the primer off I found out that the noticable cracks were failed attempts to repair cracks in the HOS factory because the cracks had body filler in them and it was the filler that was cracked.
On a slightly more plesant note HOS refunded me back $150 AU for the inconvenience.
Now to fix the cracks properly I will grind them out front and back and fill them with fibreglass filler. Then I will prime the lip with 3-4 coats of 2 pac high fill primer and guide coat.

On the rear bumper, Ive seen this paint that when it dries it goes like the end tips of them Greddy exhausts, maybe that for the diffuser bit on your rear bar. Will look different. But with the rear bar, the smallest amounts of detail can make the biggest difference.
Sideskirts, they are a pain in the ass to fit... My sideskirts... Yeah they still WIP. Fitting the kit when its hot maybe abit easier as the kit will warm up and be abit more flexible. When it cools down, it will form to the shape of your car. In theory...
Front bar. I know what you mean... Have you tried the primer that goes on yellow first? I used a few coats of that for my front bar to get most of the little cracks out. That one fills alot of the bits but for the bigger and deeper ones you will need a body filler.

Blakey wrote:but doing that wont it create a hard stop as the lip is made of FRP so putting fiberglass filler would make that spot extra hard?
There were areas on the bottom of the front lip where the exterior resin film was less than 1mm thick with about 3mm of raw fibre and a skin of glass on the inside.
FRP?? Care to explain? Is that the flexible firbreglass? The material where you can twist the body kit and it won't crack.
If so then what a joke!! If you don't pick my front lip up properly it cracks!!
