A couple of questions before I purchase some Plastidip:

1) Do you need to remove both grills for installation?

2) How far do you spray the Plastidip into the area where the top grill sits?

3) How do you score the overspray tape without damaging the paint?

Cheers.

This is probably a really stupid question but this is my first attempt at a DIY so be gentle with me

Can you just use ordinary old school masking tape and newspaper to cover up the surrounding area or is there special tape to use that wont leave residue on the painwork?

I just bought 2 cans and am going to spray the front bumper, my sports grille to match and my rear diffuser which was painted gloss black by mistake.

I removed the top grill when I did the vinyl - its gives a better finsh so I tihnk if you plastidip it you should do the same.

I bought the $3.99 silver masking tape from Supercheap and it was good enough.

I did it the lazy way - taped up and sprayed about 6 coats then knifed the edges to removed the tape/newspaper.

The betterway would be to remove the edging tape after each coat. So you won't be cutting into the bumper.

On removal after 24h the tape left little or no residue :) A quick wash with microfibre and everything is looking new :)
