Ahh, SIKAFLEX is our friend!!!!
I have done a couple of different glass kits now. CE lancer and a VX wagon-VY Clubsport. Both glass.
All we have to do with our HOS kits is to
- utilise the existing screw holes from the mud guards for the front of the side skirts ans the rear lip. Use the original screws. make new holes and use new screws else where.
- Get some ally flat strap and make brackets for where the side skirts hang lower as well as the front and rear bar.
-I might even get 2 stainless steel turn buckles for the front lip for strength and looks
- after it is painted Mask a line 3-5mm higher than where the kit falls on the car as well as masking a line 3-5mm along the edges of the kit
- Along the sills and top edges of the side skirts and lips pump heaps of marine grade sikaflex in. If it doesn't ozze out the isn't enough on.
- Caulk a bead along the edges of the kit and skim off with a butter knife.
- un mask and clean and mess with wax and grease remover.
- After it has cured mask either side of the sikaflex bead and paint the same colour as the car.

Yes it was primed but there was only one coat which had a few cracks showing up in it which had to be f/glass filled.
I used wet 400grit paper to sand the primed surface. I took most of the primer off and found quite a few pin holes in the fibreglas which would have been a problem after a while with a bit of UV rays on the kit.
As well as this, it's not good to leave primer raw for to long as it can soak up moisture and cause delamination of the top coat. I wasn't sure how long the primer was on there so i took it off
Now I know for sure that it has 3 good coats of primer for me to wet rub it with 800 grit paper for a smooth finish for top coating

Almost there!!!
I painted the red today.
Blakey, Let me just say that even after sanding the original primer back, re applying 3 coats of high fill primer, guide coating and sanding it back with 600 wet and dry there are still some ripples on the larger flat surfaces.
Anyway, next step is to mask off the exhaust outlet areas and paint it in Black metalic with a satin gloss.
