Wind noise - mirrors?

Just recently got the car and I've found the wind noise to be quite irritating (if the stereo is not on).

I know from our other car - the Outlander - there was a wind noise issue that could be fixed by putting some sponge on top of the loose under panels at the bottom of the side mirrors.

Looking under the mirrors of the lancer I was hoping for the same thing (as it can be fixed) however instead of a panel I see the exposed screw. Perhaps this is making the wind noise (apart from poor design and glass thickness)?

Your thoughts anyone? I was thinking of taping it up to see if it can temporarily fix the wind noise issue and move on to a more permanent solution if it does..

Our cars a very noisy due to 2 main factors Mitsu was very cheap and installed min sound proofing and 2 the bloody Advan tyres are extremely noidy on coarse top bitumen but far better on the smooth.

General wind noise is not too bad otherwise.
Dynamat is very good but is expensive and requires pulling off interior of car doors, trunk bottom and sides and maybe firewall as a min to treat.

I was thinking of K & H underbody noise sealer in wheel arched on top of the Mitsu stuff to try and reduce it a little more at min expense.

Several guys have got diff tyres that are far quiter than the stock Advans.
I will do too when these are worn down more.

Mirror noise is not that bad and is common in most cars due primarily to their location on the car which aerodynamically speaking b the worst for drag and therefore noise.

Yup. The noise in the car I can live with - its what you get for getting a Mitsu but I was quite surprised about the wind noise - it was a little more than I expected.

I was just wondering if my little tape fix will fix the job. Will post back soon!

Yeah I notice the wind noise from 90km/h and upwards from those side mirrors. I suspect it's more got to do with the size and shape of them rather than the hole at the bottom.

Blade is correct, it is size and shape and location causing problem as wellas flow interference around windshield and side of car.

Get the X-Factor folding mirrors, the Colt switch from ofey, wire it up with my DIY and then fold them in whilst driving!

It helps!!!

note: I do not recommend folding in the mirrors whilst driving. You need to see behind you, even if it is bad Feng Shui

I noticed the wind noise until I upgraded my stereo.... suddenly the wind noise dissapeared

nice one lzy, my music usually drowns out the wind noise, but if i'm going 100-110 on a road that isn't as smooth as a suburban hwy it'll still be fairly loud

Good ol dumbo ear side mirrors! one of my pet peeves!
Notice this too & keep meaning to tape them up when I do freeway trips but keep forgetting.

simple fix, remove the door seal level with the dash on drovers side to reveil a small hole that lets air pass from inside the wheel arch/ inner guard.

Wheel arches bother me again less .
Maybe sitting at the window to listen to higher notes - frequencies
