Hi all just thought I'd share this with you. Ive seen the ipod dock for the es models so I thought i'd design one for the RA.
This is not a how to as i dont know if even I could repeat it as I used bits n pieces from the garage to make it
First I removed the small centre Switch holder behind the gear shift and rewired the Tarmac selector switch to the new position to the right of the steering wheel where the ASC off switch is.
My head unit has a ipod cable input so I had to make up a plate to go where the factory switch plate is to hold the cable securely. I found a bit of ply wood off one of my old crashed Rc planes and cut it out to fit. I then covered it in some fabric I found off one of my dog's old beds believe it or not, haha. Then cut the hole out to fit the cable.
I glued the cable in place and added some balsa reinforcements. And here is the end result!
An Ipod dock!
Still learning this pic upload stuff

Must say the end result looks sweet, wish our units would take the ipod dock can only connect with the RCA through the head phones well so i have been told.

Na man its rubbish, Im sending it back to China next week. DVD/GPS and touch screen doesnt work anymore, luckily I cracked it enough with the supplier they are sending me a replacement
It really pissed me off to cause I had to buy an amp and re-wire everything as it didnt work with the RF system. The rockford amp came out and I installed a MB Quart amp, then I had to get X-overs for the splits as its normally built in to the rockford amp. Big pain in the ass!
I'm seriously thinking about changing it for a Pioneer Screen...we'll see how the replacement works.

Silly question but why do you need to be able to see your iPod/iPhone whilst driving when you have full head unit support? For me, I wanted my iPod out of sight (theft) as well as for convenience. Good job with improvising a dock though!

Mine is in the poverty pack pocket behind the shifter, like most... I have padded mine to afford some take-off and cornering protection...

Ahaaa, once again this head unit let me down. It doesnt have full Ipod support. Just Track up&down and volume. You still need to look at the iphone to change songs. As I said POS

I guess you get what you pay for... surprised that you cheaped out on headunit when you are spending so much on components for your audio setup! The other thing I'd be concerned about is switching tracks/pushing the screen and not snapping/damaging the connector port. I personally would've left the cable and made a mount because that way there is minimal risk of damaging the connection port. (apologies for lack of terminology here; this is based on my experience with the Dension Ice Link Plus kit in my Civic which came mounted but then I swapped it for the iPod cable instead)
