Matching Front Tint with Privacy Glass - VRX Model

Hi all,

I'm looking at upgrading to a new VRX model.

I noticed the passenger windows (and rear window?) come with privacy glass standard. Not sure if it can be removed?

My concern is as I also want to get the front windows tinted it won't look the same (not as dark and different colour?).

Looking for ideas on what to do.

1/ Get 35% tint on front and have a possible mismatch (privacy 25%)
2/ Try and order the car without privacy glass?
3/ Try and remove privacy glass or get completely new windows fitted

Will 35% on the front and 25% privacy look very different?

Thanks in advance

i`ve tried to match my privacy glass with film, even 20% wont do it :(
and yeah, its not removable, youd have to change the windows.

i was told it was because theres so much glass in the windscreen no percentage of film will match them.

did you leave your front driver windows untinted?

i'm wondering if it will it look alot different to the rear if i get 35% (darkest legal) on the fronts

If you go to a 'reputable' tint place, they will be able to show you different tints on the glass... but that doesn't really help if you're at the ordering stage...

i put 20% on the fronts to try to match the rears, no good, still too light

yeah i might have to wait and see. hopefully it turns out ok

what are the chances of ordering the car without privacy glass and adding the usual aftermarket tint to the whole car?

i doubt if they make the car without the privacy glass.

that may be an option

pretty annoying to buy a higher spec'ed lancer (VRX) and have to spend money on something the lower models already have standard

so obviously its impossible to match regardless of the %. Im assmung since the privacy glass is glass and not tint like the fronts

does the rear back window have privacy glass or just the rear passenger?

Privacy glass is well beyond darkest legal tint 35% light transmission... Go as dark as you're comfortable with the front window tints - but depending on how fussy you are will determine how noticeable the darkness difference is. I have 35% in front - I feel it is nowhere near dark enough. 20% tint is a close match in looks IMHO.

if you want to match the privacy glass you will need at least 5-10% tint..

I have 15% and it's still too light..

may I ask which brand of tint you have?
I'm guessing the brand/model and colour may determine how obvious the difference will be

as i said in my first post, i was told by a tint shop that its the light from the windscreen that makes it very difficult to make the front windows dark.

i tend to agree.

thanks everyone

from all your comments, it looks like even with the non legal tint 10-20% it still doesn't doesn't totally alleviate the issue. I think I'll just go with the darkest legal 35% and move onto the next mod!
