be very careful with these they bend the bonnets, have seen them on a couple already the bonnets are very thin and bend with the extra strain on them

Extra strain? They are quite neutral...

I would like to see a bent bonnet from a gas strut lift....

would be more pressure on a bonnet from wind flowing over it!

I had twin gas struts on my Daewoo Matiz (which is Korean for Tissue Paper) and that bonnet did not fail....

The Lancer bonnet is well braced IMHO.

My ebay ones just got delivered, can't pick up from the post office until 4:30pm :( 1hr and 5 minutes to burn. :cry:

I picked up some Struts R Us at the Gold Coast here in Queensland. Cost me $120 all up. Looks awesome.

Just picked them up from the post office. Build seems good. The CF look is not some sticker stuck on (which I kinda feared), but luckly did not eventuate.
The metal feels very solid. Not flimsy. Each strut weighs in at 265g.

Just installed mine, not sure if I placed the washer and the locking washer in the correct sequence. :?

Anyone want to confirm I've done it right or buggered it up? Have a feeling the locking washer should be against the head of the screw and the flat washer against the black plate? I'm such a n00b, especially after a nightshift. :)

you get 2 for that price. Black struts, stainless brackets. Chrome struts extra.

Hey VRX_Pete, That looks just right to me. The locking Star washer looks to big in diameter to place under the head of the Hex Bolt. Leave as it is ! After 37yrs in Engineering, its the way I'd do it.

Thanks for that. Just was dreading have to re-do it all over again. :(
Not sure if both washers are really needed, I'd be inclinded to use the star lock washer only.
my concern is with the attachment to the hood, where adding the black plate in addition to two washers does not leave enough thread for the nut screwed on. There is only enough thread for half the nut to attach.
