EDIT: I just noticed something... See where "SRS Airbag" is written, is everybody's the same? My Lancer is not home atm so I can't check myself, but I think mine is written below that join...

i still see the new design causing problems with the airbag.... the dash flap for the airbag flaps the opposite way of the dash mats flap...sure itd still deploy, but as someone else said, itd send the mat into the passengers face,,,,
even if they were to design the mat to flap the same way, the speed of deployment would still hinder the iarbag...itd get caught.

this rreally sux because id love a dash mat and done a search to find this topic so i could find where to get one.
ive read the whole thread, and a few thers, so i obviously know where to go, but i still dont feel confident that the mat wont mess with the airbag... and itd look horrid if a whole section of the mat was missing.

one other topic this does raise with me, is are we able to source an outlander 2nd glovebox and install it into our lancers? cos the lancer glovebox is tiny!
i am used to 2 shelves in my astra, and with the lancer glovebox there isnt even room to store A4 documents.

There is a flap that fold each way. If you like, half the airbag section folds forward, the other half rearward.

I get what you men about the mat still obstructing the bag in a way. I don't have a dash mat because I think they are ugly

Edit: As for the Outlander 2nd Glove Box, the dash is a different shape, so probably not. Plus in the Lancer there is wiring and other components behind that panel ;)

thankyou for clearing that up mate.
i dont mind sewing, so ill see about making my own mat, or sourcing one of the old ones and making my own flaps to suit the airbag flaps.

i prefer a mat mainly for the reflection factor, but also for the protection factor.

shame about the 2nd glovebox... ill still have to look into it though.

I like having a dashmat due to the inherent daytime glare off those binacle style instruments..... the mat takes care of the glare which can be quite distracting in the Westerly afternoon driving!

Went in to autobarn to order a dashmat the other day, but their book seems to indicate that the MY10 model (I've got an RX) dashmat will be different than previous models and that it hasn't been designed yet. The website http://www.haigh.com.au/www_dashmats_com_au/ seems to indicate the same thing.

Anyone know if there actually is a difference between the MY10 and the older model's dash?

That is very interesting...

From what I can see the MY10 dash is identical. Will confirm when I next see a MY10 (3rd Jan)

Just a suggestion- dash mats with flaps for the air bag are fine as long as you securely attach the mat to the dash with more than just velcro other wise the bag is deployed at such a high speed it doesn't give time for the flap to move and instead fires the mat and anything on or near it into your head. My uncle had a smash in an i30 and not only did the dash mat cut him in the face but his sat nav smashed his wife in hers lol

Any news on the MY10 dash mat?

I noticed that the Haigh website has the MY10 with "ES Only", which I assume is applicable to my Activ. Might jump into Autobarn and order one.

Velcro doesn't work too well as far as I can tell, as the adhesive melts away over time and the mat just end up all over the place.

The fact that it states the ES might mean that the mat has no cut out for the passenger side airbag which I think in the activ you have don't you? In regards to the tape mate you do not need it, my dashmat has no tap on it and it has never moved even during the ClubCJ cruise through the really twisty roads QLD :D.

Well the thing is that the 7 airbags should be standard on all Lancers now. They have one mat for for all models from 10/07 until now, except for the ES from 01/10, and then a second mat specifically for the ES from 01/10.

As far as I can tell, the Activ is like the ES but with some sporty accessories. The airbags aren't anything special.

I'll try to contact them and see what they say.

not to mention for the car to be acceptable to aus market it must have at least a driver and passenger front airbag
