Tried ebay scuff plate from thailand --> Avoid

Just some metal ones, look nice but they dont mould directly onto the sill so they dont stick on 100%. So they will prly come off.

Unfortunately the edges are polished but still sharp. I actually managed to scratch up the door sill while position the scuff plates. Oh the irony... scuff plates to protect but they end up doing the worse damage. I even dropped the scuff plate accidentally and as it fell down a side nicked on the paint work and took a chip out with it haha.

My god. dangerous shit.

For the moment ive decided to leave them in my garage looking shiny.

Maybe i shud get a n00b friendly vinyl set instead.

I wanted to get them a while ago but hesitated and didn't get them in the end.

The main issue I have in the car is with the black moulded plastic just next to the paint. That's the thing that gets scuffed and would've benefited from some other material less susceptible to scuffing.

Tim I dont know why you say to avoid them?

Many members have them. They look great and are very well priced. I really like them.

I think the fitting issues could be more a problem with your application on fitting. How out of shape are the scuff plates.

I always find using a good cleaning product on the scuff plate and the door seals and using a good quality double sided tape they should hold down.

I purchased from Ebay and fitted the exact same scuff plates last year.

I did test fit them first to make sure they match the profile of the door sill before I removed the backing strip on the double sided tape.

I did slightly twist / bend to suit, because the sill is not entirely 100% parallel depending on where you decide to place the scuff plate.
Simply done by hand with very little effort.

I did add some extra 3M double sided tape for added adhesive strength because I'm pedantic.

I did wipe the sill with some isotopic swabs to remove all traces of oil, grease, contaminated grime which will definitely inhibit and prevent proper tape adhesion.
Isotopic Swabs can be substituted with those Alcohol Swabs commonly found in First Aid Kits.

Having performed these Simple Precautionary Steps should provide Positive and Trouble Free Fitment and Adhesion.

Try it Again Tim with some Thought, Time and Patience.

So for those who are very risk averse, then there's a premium to be paid, but for peace of mind it's not too bad.

That was what i found, the plates are flat but the sills are slightly curved near the middle, tried to apply pressure downwards, but with the backing tape they provide its not thick enough.

Um, i think ill go look out for some more thicker dbl sided tape and try again.

worried about the edges scratching the sill though.

But above the sills, the black plastic trim cops a lot more traffic and dust though. dont think there is anything to be done there?
