Evo x Aluminum gearknob on a Lancer

Postby matty_boi » Wed Mar 16, 2011 2:37 pm

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know if you can put an Evo x Aluminum gearknob on a lancer,
I have the Aluminum gearknob, it just doesn't sit right on the lancer gear stick
Is there any way, without modding the stick, to put the Aluminum gearknob on right or make it look neater,
Any adapters that might work?
Any help would be nice

Thanks in advance.

If it is the same one as what I had, I drilled into the gear knob about 1cm.

This allowed it to screw in properly.

What exactly do you mean by drill in,
What does that do,
The gearknob I have is,
http://www.lancershop.com/customer/imag ... knob-b.jpg (googled it)
Is this the one you got,
How big does the hole have to be, and where did you drill it on the gearknob?

You need to drill into the plastic thread. It needs to be big enough so it clears the smaller thread at the top of your gear stick.

I believe mine fit on without drilling, but that allowed the gearknob to sit down lower.

I did this a while ago now though, so pulling all info from memory.

Oh, so your gearknob just sits onto it tightly?
Without screwing or does it actually touch the lower threads?

It had to screw on.

I don't have the car anymore, so I can't check sorry.

vi93r has the same gear knob.

Perhaps send him a PM.
