not sure if this will work.

i want to go wingless - i have a Black Evo - i want to swap for a black boot without spoiler.

i have the smart key setup. will this work with a standard lancer boot lid. does the lancer come in the same black colour as the evo ?

Get a Panelbeater to weld up the holes.

Sell spolier to fund boot work.

Your other problem will be the boot button.

Only 5 Lancers have the boot button:
Evo, RA, Aspire, Olympic Ed and VRX
However 3 of those come with wings:
Evo, RA and VRX
Only 2 are wingless at P.O.S.:

So now down to either an Aspire and an Olympic Ed.

And as Matt eluded to, the black is different so both of you need to spray paint.

Not so sure it'd be worthwhile for an Aspire or O.Ed. owner to spray your trunk just to get the wing.

Not looking easy.

Good luck!

im open to suggestions on places to get quote from in Perth.

one mob didnt want to weld it, said that the metal would warp with the heat from welding

You can use filler also... this is how my boot was done. Welding would be better. A good welder can do it without warping...

With the price of the weld/respray at $880, why not just buy a new bootlid for the Evo X? There are even some importers in Australia who do Seibon bootlids- and you can get it in CF. It may cost a bit more but at least you're getting benefits for it. Otherwise just try and find a replacement bootlid overseas and get it shipped in?

Alternatively you can try plugging the holes but that'll look cheap IMO.

hey matt

im in the same boat, ive taken the spoiler off my vrx and put the rexspeed duckbill on, but have the six holes left in the boot from the spoiler, ive have coverd them up with some 3m di-noc carbon fibre vinyl for the time being, mitsubishi quoted me 650.00 for a new vrx boot unpainted, so im thinking of going carbon fibre

this is the cheapest ive found in aust
http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=19519

mps garage have the seibon one, ive asked about the hole for the boot button both compaines have told me that they dont do the hole for the button.

otherwise you have this one
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-E ... 4aa9c0088d

this one comes with the boot button hole ive emailed these guys to
they claim it is good quality but im not sure its pretty cheap.

if you go CF, you have to add the cost of getting it sprayed to match.

im guessing ~$400 ?
