Dealers can sell them for around the $700 mark unprimed & unpainted (that's the quote I had from a parts warehouse a while back).
Not sure if you'd need an RA VIN or not to purchase a new one though, Aftermarket rear bumpers could also be a cheaper alternative too.

Most people with RAs will rarely change their rear bumper bars, so 2nd hand ones are few and far between. Wreckers will also rarely have front and rear bumpers.
So you stand a better chance if you look brand new.
To get a brand new one, most dealerships will ask you for a RA VIN.
If you want me to buy one from PMR for you, similarly, I will need a RA VIN.
Here's the part number and pricing.
MI-6410B565WA Face Kit Bumper White
RRP = A$561
CCJ Price = A$485
They don't come color matched. You will need to paint them. You can transfer the reflectors from your current car. All other clips are interchangeable for the rear bumper set.
It's hard to get well built after market parts if you're going to judge them with OEM quality eyes. You must be able to accept certain flaws if you want to buy 3rd party and aftermarket.

Does that come with the diffuser attached? or is that just wishful thinking haha

huh what diffuser?
That black bit is attached to the bumper bar already. It's not 2 pieces. It's a single piece... .
So yes it comes with it.

yeap. So long as you have a VIN for me... . Or just try and buy it from any RA dealer yourself.

if I'm not mistaken VIN's get printed on rego stickers?
on a more serious note, i'm thinking of keeping the VRX front bumper while only replacing the rear bumper with a new RA rear bumper. would this make the car look funny, say from the side profile?
only asking because i noticed you've got the RA front and rear bumpers, replacing your Olympic Edition ones

yeap. You could choose to steal a VIN from online sites and stuff.
The investigation that comes down from PMR might need you to prove you own that car by way of purchase receipt. so they are very strict about it.
It's really your call. I personally don't think it looks strange.

Whats the big security thing about RA's only being valid for RA parts.
What is the issue with anyone being able to purchase what ever they want?

Same as Evo's, Mitsubishi wants these cars to be exclusive and doesnt want imitations on the road, so the only way they sell them is with high security and sometimes only through insurance. That's what my local mitsu parts shop fed me...
From what ive been told if you get rear ended, talk to the mechanic the car gets sent to and ask him to get the RA bar instead, write it in since the pricing will end up similar, plus the more it costs the happier the mechanic will be lol.

I think most mitsu dealers would be okay if you just provided a VIN# I know my mitsu/holden dealer locally didnt really give a stuff when I bought HSV astra stuff for mine using carsales sourced VIN's
