bonnets must be made from metal anything else is illegal and will get you a defect and insurance problems.

They're legal if they're ADR (I think its ADR...?) approved... But I don't think any of them are :P

Thats right Renniw - Genuine your looking at least $1300 without paint - The Car Mate metal hood looks pretty good - just wondering how well the fitment is.

Is the carmate one made of aluminium or steel? The only real benefit of the RA bonnet for an NA Lancer is lighter weight apart from a more aggressive look. But as I mentioned in another thread, it's a bit of a hassle to open it after rain or carwash, as the water that accumulated on the slits splash down the engine.

I also encountered Lancers aftermarket bonnets that did not fit too well. Adjusting can be done, but if the mould isn't shaped to align with the other panels, then you can only do so much; it may still look a bit awkward.
