Welcome Zac. I'm from Singapore originally.

what do you need to know about the OBDII reflash cable. And which one did you buy?

hi lena91,

hi Ofey,

i was thinking of doing some tune work on my lancer...but on the stock mode..planning to upgrade to not now...i ve read that we should upgrade intake and exhaust before doing tuning...is it really necessary....?
anyway...i'm really interested in DIY tuning my car...i got some help from Mitsubishi technician here as reference...but limited tuning knowledge...

the cable i bought was the 1260 galetto reflash obdII..ordered from china...
can i use this cable for a start...?

and how about the software bro...i'm planning to buy evoscan ..

Each time you change something on your drivetrain, you will need to re-tune to take advantage of it.

If you tune the car in its stock configuration, you won't be able to do much except improve fuel efficiency. The car runs pig rich out of the factory.

The way we on this forum do tuning, we use:
1. Openport 2.0 Tactrix Cable (this now allows standalone logging as well by way of a MicroSD memory Card)
2. ECUFlash software to make the changes
3. EvoScan for logging

The China cables do NOT allow you to use the ECU Flash software so you're on your own here.

@Zac: You can get the Tactrix cable here.

So you want me to guide you and NOT do it for you.

I like people like you.

I hate those who want everything given to them for free...and on a plate.

Once you've got your tactrix cable, you can read your Proton's ROM using the cable and ECU Flash.

Save the file.

Then go to goldenevo.com and download:
2 ROMs
and
2 matching Definition Files

You will then also need a HEX Editor program.

Open up your ROM File and the other 2 ROMs using the HEX Editor then by the principle of "triangulation" you should be able to figure out what HEX addresses need to be put in for your own Definition file

The first time, it will take you a weekend or so to do a definition file. After you've done enough of them, it takes about 3hrs or so then all's well.

hi dora_anne..
hi ali...tq guys...

ofey..i ll order the cable plus evoscan...it will take some time i guess...

meanwhile ill try to download the roms file and study them...it might take me more than a weekend to study ..my brain ecu is slow..hahaha,...

under stood on the stock tune gain...getting lower fuel consumption is good enough for me for a start...

Good luck.

I'm open to questions.

If you learn how to do it, you can then develop from there.
You learn alot along the way and grow as a person.

I've been trying to hack into a Subaru RX ROM recently.

any luck on the Subaru RX..?
when u say hack, does it mean that some ECUs are blocked by car manufacturer to prevent DIY tuning...?
