Lancer Newbie!

Postby FJ PWR » Thu Feb 10, 2011 10:17 am

Heyya!

My name is Rajeel and I am new to this forum and to Lancer's.

I am 18 and have returned to Sydney after completing high school in Fiji !!
(I used to own a VZ Calais which was the shizzle!! )

In short. I have a budget of around 23k MAX to play with and am after a car for Mum.

I was after a used VRX (CVT) but I just can not seem to find any. :(

So I joined this forum mainly to get some suggestions and advice from the Lancer Guru's.

Yesterday, I made a trip down to Paramatta and had a chat with the dealer there. He is giving me a MY10 SX (CVT) for 21k and I can add on accessories such has the black out trim and chrome outline, reverse sensors, etc.

Is it worth it? Help!

I need to make a decision and buy a car this Saturday.

Thanks very much in advance!

Vinaka. :)

Welcome Rajeel, 21k for a CVT SX sounds pretty good to me considering the ES is like 20k. I think the SX is a really good buy with the kit you get, and yeah a few extras here and there to make it more personal. Just a word of advice the dealer fitted black out trim does not cover all the paint work on the front, best to get a signwritter to put some black vinyl on for you cost would be around $50 - $80.

Hi Rajeel,
Welcome to ClubCJ and I'm sure you will find a wealth of knowledge for practically anything you want to do to your new SX Lancer.

As the other have mentioned, don't get the dealers front black-out, it does not offer full coverage.

Also, don't get the Mitsu Factory Reverse Sensors.
They work OK, but the dealer will mount them in accordance with the fitting instructions which places them to low (close to the ground) which causes them to false alert constantly.

If you really want Reverse Sensors, then you simply cant do better than these:
Smart Park PDC 120PI

Congrats on your SX choice.

Sam.

bula rajeel
i may be biased but i am sure you and your mum would love an sx and 21k sounds well priced with the cvt. im sure you will find if you get the lancer that it will become the new " shizzle" for sure and you can learn some new vocabulary such as mmm love that car
no turbo no awd but she's all white

Actually i have to disagree Sam, when i purchased my car i got the dealer to fit the OEM reverse sensors and they did not fit it according to the instructions instead they fitted it on the top part of the bumper that faces horizontally.... so it can be done if u ask em :)

Wow!!

Thanks guys for all your welcomes and responses!

I have a fair idea of things now. Looks like its the SX thats gonna be in my driveway!

I am thinking of getting one in BLACK! Seems like I wont get any options on it. I think I can have the sensors and black out trim done myself.

I have some mods planned for it.
( 18inch or bigger JDM rims, Tint, A bodykit of some sort, maybe a few exterior mods.. )
It up to you guys to convince me on those.. :D

I think a Black SX with no options is the way to go.

Thanks heaps guys!

Black is the worst colour to keep clean and maintain plus it will make the inside of the cabin warmer as well.

If you are going to get 18" wheels then you might as well save some money and get the ES as the SX is an ES with alloy wheels.

Also no need to get the front blacked out on a black car. All you need to do it fit the chrome moulding around the grills.

Hmmmm...

How about a ES in Effect Grey with optional : Upgraded Stereo, Front Fogs, High-Rise spoiler (Or VRX Spoiler), and the VRX Front Air-Dam and Skirts (Is that available?)?

and then I can put on the rims of my choice and tint the windows.

What is the difference in fruit between the ES and SX?

I am confused now.

All I want is an Lancer in Effect Grey which has got:

- An exterior which is good looking - think VRX Bodykit, rims, tint.
- And some fruit like leather steering and a stacker CD player.

Throw your suggestions!!!

Hey Rajeel, I am a new CJ owner, and I suffer from a mild form of OCD so I need to have a clean car always, as a result after going through every possible colour I decided to go for Effect Grey, looks very good is the public opinion. I would whole heartedly support your decision. Do put some pics up when u get the car, Im sure u will enjoy it.
PS- Cars I test drove before i settled for the SX in Grey were, the Civic, Impreza, Mazda3 and the Focus. Would be happy to tell u why the CJ was the one I bought! As almost everyone here will tell u, U will not be dissappointed!

Congrats on the purchase!!

The Effect Grey was my first choice. But they didnt have that in stock and said it would take a while to get it from another dealer.

Black was my second choice.

Am very happy with my choice ...( so far..)..

Will post pics as soon as I get the car!
