Hi guys, merlin here, otherwise call me Dave.
I drive a red Evo9, but a couple of your members, Irving and Sam, have got me involved with the ECU tuning.
I have in fact driven a 4B11 Lancer, hired one last October to drive from Cairns to Cardwell and thereabouts on a fishing trip. Loved the car, was quite impressed with it as stock and wondered then if it would prove to be tuneable - happily the answer is yes.

Welcome Dave. Thanks for coming on board... . I'm sure you'll contribute greatly to the ECU tuning discussions here... .
Very friendly and appreciative lot here. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise... . Also a couple who hang around to suck whatever information lies about...so be wary about dispensing golden nuggets.

Hi Merlin/Dave, welcome to the club.
Sam told me about you and I am looking forward to getting some help from you for tuning our ECU's.
I wish I could plug my brain in to yours and download what you know about tuning cars.
If that was possible I am sure I would not have enough memory space in my head to store all the info.

Hi Dave.
I welcome you also and express the same sentiments as Ofey and perhaps the wishes of Troy.
As I have indicated via our email and phone conversations,
Your Knowledge and Willingness to Assist the membership on ClubCJ will be a most Valuable and Truly Welcomed and Long Sought Addition toward the Performance Base within.
A True Pleasure and Welcome, Merlin.
Sam.

Hi Merlin/Dave - Welcome to ClubCJ
SAM has told me a lot about you and it certainly sounds like you know your ECU's,it will be a pleasure learning from someone with your experience.
I look forward to meeting you and seeing what you can do with a 4B12 M/T ECU,I think there is heaps of potential in the tune of these engines and their electronic brains.
All the best
Regards Chris.

For the rest of this membership base who doesn't know whom Merlin is (besides being King Arthur's Wizard
), we are in the presence of greatness.
Taking a post out of the
rcolt forums:
daedalusjc wrote:for anyone whos been watching new members you would have realised that an absolute and utter legend in the openecu sector has graced us with his presence. expect some awesome opensource shiznit soon.
Merlin is among 5-7 people (along with Tephra, Golden, Gunzo, mrfred, SiC and acamus) recognised the world over as leaders in ECU tuning/hacking for the Mitsubishi Evos and the author of the unbelievably well written:
Merlins Ralliart & Evolution-X Tuning Guide
These are the real people behind the FREE ECU tuning knowledge available all over the internet.
(And pretty much how I learned how to produce the definition files which I now make freely available to all members.)
What started free should always remain free. I am now working on a couple of USDM, EDM and SADM files for NA Cars (Turbos already done by Tephra and Golden) which I will also be releasing for free in the coming weeks (more about this later).
Long live OpenSource... .

Welcome Merlin - I loved the tuning guide and wanted to say thanks. I'm impressed that so much tuning knowledge comes out of Australia - we must all think stock cars go too slow!

Yes welcome Merlin it is great to have someone with such knowledge of ECU's in the club (particularly at the time where I am starting to performance mod my car
). If there is anything you need at all let us know although I have a feeling Ofey and Sam are going to have pretty much everything covered.
Regards Nathan.

Thanks guys for the warm welcom.
Now that I have had chance to dig into the ROMs a bit, I got to thinking that the EvoX/Ralliart tuning guide could be re-written to target the NA Lancer. It will still be a lot of work though.
