Hey everyone. I think I finally found an active lancer forum. I've been using mitsubishi-forums but its not very active, and evoxforums is all about evos lol.

So a bit about me:

-My name is Ben
-I live in Vancouver, Canada.
-I own a 09' Lancer DE in black (Couldn't afford a better model as I am a student)
-Current mods include tinted front (50%) and rear (35%) window tint, 8000k HID lamps, debadged trunk, spoiler (added it since it doesn't come with the DE model), blacked out front emblem. All pretty much cosmetic.
-Planned mods are possibly a new exhaust, new rims, and tinted tail lights.

Pretty much it. It hurts to see everyone with their GTS', Ralliarts and Evo's talking about all their expensive mods lol. I wish I could afford some of them, but then again, I am only finishing high school this year, so I am guessing I am much younger than most of you here. Maybe one day...

Don't be too bothered about what you can afford. Eventually when you leave school, by virtue of being in North America, you will be able to afford alot more than we can.

Also look on the bright side of life. Many of us here as students didn't have a spanking new Lancer to drive. Some of us had our feet whilst others inherited hand me downs. So you're already up there.

Welcome to the club. I hope you find some inspiration here for some cheap mods to do!

haha thanks. But I don't see how much different Australia can be in terms of affording things. Shouldn't it be the same?

Welcome to the club Ben.

Totally agree with Ofey about look at the positives of what you have and not what you dont. My first car was a 1960 Morris Minor. It was 10 years older then i was.

Have a good look around on here as there are lots of threads already on your planned mods.

I already purchased the VHT Nite-shades spray. I couldn't find any good threads about it on this forum. Could you link one if you can find it?

Is this forum based in Australia? Lol cause everyone I see here is from Australia.

And getting parts in Canada is more expensive than in the states. Its mostly shipping here that costs a ton, even though its only a 1 hour ride from the border :/

Yeah Ben, this is primarily an Australian forum :)

Doesn't mean you're not welcome, you just might not find anybody anywhere near you :P
But you won't find a more active forum for our cars, its a great place for searching/asking questions. People here have just about done it all (we'll even have a supercharged lancer soon hopefully!).

I think another point about the advantages of being where you are that cars themselves are much cheaper over there. You'll likely have a much better chance of getting something like an evo in the future if that is what you want, than people over here do. At least I think so, or is that just the USA?

I'm a little jealous of the looser laws over there (like tinting front windscreen and tail lights). Darker tail lights are what most of us sportback owners crave.

Anyway, enjoy your stay :)

Its also illegal here in Canada to tint the front windows. That's why I went with only 50%. I figured its dark enough to look cool, yet bright enough so I won't get a ticket. And yes cars here are cheaper than Australia I guess, but not as cheap as in the US. But im guessing the only reason you guys have such expensive cars is because of taxes, like in Europe, right?

And yea I have been on a search to find an active Lancer forum, and this is the most active forum I have found yet lol...

I don't understand why so many of you guys have sport backs. I have yet to see one on the road here. In fact, the only time I have ever seen a sportback was deep inside a Mitsu dealership haha. Maybe hatchbacks just aren't popular in North America.

Not a lot of us have sportbacks... I got one cos the prices were great when I was looking but I had to choose from what was there (a black SB, a grey SB, and a red lower model sedan :P).

I see them being used for grocerys etc mainly lol.

And theres not too many sportbacks here, we just talk lots :P
1 in 15 or so that I see on the roads are SB's...

And good luck not getting in trouble then :P

I joined mitsubishi-forums.com first, where someone recommended here when they noticed I was Australian. Here is bigger and more active anyway :)

Thanks guys!

Btw in regards to getting an evo one day. First of all, if I had 50k to drop on a car, I don't think a Mitsu would be a way to go. And second of all, I really like the designs of the evo, but that can be accomplished with a body kit. The point of getting an evo is for power, but what's the point?

My stock 152hp lancer can go from 0 to speeding ticket in 5 seconds...

and evo can go from 0 to speeding ticket in 2...
