Shopping for a new Evo in Perth
Hey all,
I'm in the market for a new car atm and I've been visiting dealers looking for prices on MY11 Evos (trade in). I test drove a GSR TC-SST as well as a TMR Bathurst edition and was pretty impressed with the acceleration of the Bathurst. The TC-SST is a dream and would make my daily commute through peak hour traffic much more enjoyable. The muffler change to the exhaust is decent, subtle and not too loud. Oh and fantastic seats which fit perfectly.
The standard Evo was a little disappointing (maybe due to how much I had built the car up in my head) as I felt there wasn't enough of a performance improvement over my current car - lightly modded Mazda6 MPS. I'm probably going to go for some modding whether it's TMR or MRT but that's something I'll need to take into account.
So my question is: How much can you get a GSR TC-SST MY11 for (given that I was told there are no White MY10s anymore) in Perth? I know the trade in value is going to be terrible so I'm just trying to work out what kind of prices are available as opposed to what the dealer is giving.
Thanks all.

Hey PMR
Waneroo are selling a black MY10 MR for $61500 with 200 km on the clock http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dem ... &silo=1011
Unfortunately for me, white is the only colour I want otherwise I would've bought that on the spot
While my MPS may be as quick to the 1/4 as a stock Evo X, it lacks some of the things that that the Evo has factory bluetooth, the awesome TC-SST (for peak hour driving...you should see the size of my left calf), Brembos and most importantly a much higher potential for tuning and aftermarket support. That was the biggest problem with the MPS is that the availability of aftermarket parts cannot compare with cars like the Evos or STIs. If I was in the US I would get a Cobb AP and it wouldn't be an issue.
But anyway, I am looking forward to joining some of the Club CJ runs if/when I do eventually buy the Evo.

I finally put a deposit down last night on a MY11 built GSR and we're looking at probably 3 to 4 months for delivery
A couple of things I didn't realise: MY11s get folding mirrors, driverside auto windows and internal microwave sensor alarm (mounted in the roof door lights). But the most interesting thing I heard from the dealer, which I have never heard or read before - is that Mitsubishi can track the number of times you use the launch control and will void your warranty after 4 or 5 (dealer wasn't 100% sure of the number) uses. He seemed quite adamant this was the case and we had a lengthy discussion about this. Now I'm not sure whether or not it was just an attempt to stop me from making expensive warranty claims but I intend to clarify this with MMA themselves because it seems that voiding a warranty by using an advertised feature, without unless stating this somewhere in their contracts or documentation is slightly dodgy.
Has anyone else heard about this?

Hah I wish, though you might be able to fry an egg on the engine...The way I understand that alarm is if somehow someone manages to get into the car without setting off the shock sensors, then sits in the seat, the microwave sensors will pick up the heat variation and set off the alarm.
I've sent a query to MMA regarding the launch control and just waiting for feedback.

Yeah exactly what I thought. The explanation from the dealer being that because other similar cars offer it, they offer it too to keep the car competitive. Given that if you ever take it to the drags, the most logical place to use it - you would lose the warranty anyway so would it not be an extension of that clause?
PMR - Would you happen to know if there's any counter in the ECU that would track the usage numbers?

That's not 100% true - the GTR has launch control, but the owners manual clearly states that turning the VDC off (except when rocking vehicle when stuck in mud or snow) will void the warranty (at least on any exploding transmissions). Using the launch control on the early models required turning off the VDC. The post below goes into quite alot of detail, as well as going off track lol
