New to club :) Just bought a Ralliart.

Postby acejay17 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 3:39 pm

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to drop by and say hello. New to this club, got alot of useful information from here before I made the purchase.

I picked up the car recently and I love it :D

Only problem is on the second day I got it - I scraped the bottom front as was coming out of the driveway. So stressed about that :(

Looking forward to meeting all of you and contributing to this club :D

Hey there Jay. Welcome to the club... in more ways then one... lol.

Don't worry too much about the scrape, those of us who have lowered our cars scrape a lot. The reason I say don't worry is there are plastic flaps that project down from the underside in front of the wheels. These flaps are an aerodynamic feature supposedly to stop air vortexing into the wheel arches. You probably scraped the flap a bit, is all.

Mine are shredded along the bottom edge on both sides. :)

Nup, you "christened" her for many years of good driving and friendship. :)
We all do it, I did it the first day in and what Rick said, it's probably the two flaps under the front airdams that you scraped. Very replaceable and disposable. don't worry about it too much.

Welcome to the club. Good to hear it's been a useful resource for you.

Tell us more about yourself and your car and your plans for her.

If you want some ClubCJ.net stickers for your car (a wonderful first mod I must say!) you can become a paid premium member, if you want.

Hope to see you around a lot more or on a cruise soon.

Heya mate, glad to hear we've been able to help you out with your purchase.

Looking forward to seeing some photos and if you have any plans for the car.

Anyway, like everyone's already said, nothing to worry about with the scraping, happens to everyone...

Again, welcome and take it easy.

Thanks heaps fellas :D

Like the comment about me "christening" the car with the scrape, that made me lol

I got down on all fours and had a look on the underside. I scraped the part in-between the front airdam and the vertical flaps (didn't actually scrape the vertical flap things) - they are plastic and stick out a little bit I think they are protecting the FMIC and Radiator.

But by the looks of things it sounds like a common occurance and something i probolly shouldn't worry too much about. So thanks for that guys, it honestly made me feel a whole lot better :D

Im gonna post pics and more details about what I plan to do to this car soon.

So thanks again for all the welcomes :D

Thanks fellas,

Mr_Evo I got it in White and love it :)

Alright been thinking about mods and what im planning to do to it.

So far from reading threads here and there and getting fragments of info from all over the place, ive decided i should probolly start with the following mods.

Any advice / experience on what you guys recommend would be appreciated so let me know if you dont mind :)

Aesthetics:
*Evo X spoiler - is it possible to get the OEM Evo X spoiler as i imagine it would be the best quality from Mitsu, and who/where would i get it from ?
*Evo X front bumper (black center part) - If available.
*Paint or vinyl bottom center airdam to complete the look.

Handling:
*Better wider tyers.
*Either get new rims to fit tyres or paint exsisting ones black.
*Suspension / Strut braces - have to do more research into this to see whats required and what is needed.
*Big brake kits, which include the discs and larger brakes, probbly from MRT.

Performance:
*Still researching this area but the MRT ralliart power kits looks quite good.
Got a quote from MRT for $5100 you get a tune and TBE that will generate an extra 30kwatw and 25% more torque.
*Evo X FMIC
*Evo X BOV - if this makes any differance.

Still reading up here and there and seeing what I should get done - more of a wish list right now ofcourse coz of budget restrictions.

But yeah it would be awesome to hear what your thoughts are on this all as you guys obviously have the experience compared to a noob like me :D
