New Guy From the country...

Postby rallyhaggis » Sat Oct 09, 2010 3:51 pm

Hi all,
Currently living in Bendigo, country vic.
Recently become the proud owner of a new Ralliart Lancer with the luxury pack. (Leather, MMCS etc) I have a long history with motorsport, especially rallying and have always been a fan of the mitsi product. A million times better looking than that other Jap turbo 4WD rally car....

It was a hard decision to buy the Ralliart rather than just getting the straight EVO X. In the end it purely came down to availabilty and the wife!

Have been a co-driver in numerous Rally cars in the past, including, corollas, XR Falcons, Datsuns, Commodores, Charades, and Excels. For the past eight years, my regular ride has been a VN Commodore V8, unfortunately 5 Barrell rolls in '09 has meant a rebuild of that car, so in the meantime i have tarted myself about. Mainly in a Nissan 200Sx RVS12, and a Hyundai Excel in the Victorian Rally Championship. The Hyundai owner is an exceptionally talented kid (17 Years old, Finished just outside the top 10 last event!) which puts quite a few others in higher powered cars to shame!!

Currently the Ralliart is pretty much Stock. might look at modding a few things later on as the OEM stuff wears out, but at the moment I am more than happy with its performance and handling.
Cheers
Jason

Welcome to the Club! Sounds like you know your car stuff already. That's always an advantage.
Like the other's have said, plenty of ideas to glean from other members' rides, in the ClubCJ Garage and ride threads. :D
See you around.

Hi Jason, good name buddy.
Great car the ralliart, I was thinking about buying one but I didn't have anyone telling me not to so I bought a Evo instead :)

You will find whatever it is you want to do to your car on here more than likely. Post some pics up when you get a chance.
And welcome again.

Let us know if you got any future races coming up, I'm sure some of us VIC guys wouldn't mind making a trip if possible. :)

Just so happens there are 2 I am entering in the next few weeks. the first is the Gil Davis memorial trial based around powelltown. I will be running in a 5.7l VZ ute, which was originally built for Greg Murphy to run the Round Australia Rally. This event will be a night time event. ie. Start at dusk, and run till the early morning.
The second is Rally Victoria, the victorian round of the Aus. Rally Championship. This will be ont he 13th of November, based around Noojee. I will be back with the kid in the high undies excel. In my opinion this would be the one to go and have a look at. If for no other reason to watch Sue and Simon Evans. What these guys cant do is incredible. Simon is one of the best steerers ever! Also, this event will have a few EVOs, and that 'other' japanese, turbo'd AWD cars. Another to watch in that event would be the bloke in a Nissan 200sxRVs12. This is one of the fastest 2WD cars around. I have run with him in it, and when we change into 5th gear at 180km/h on a dirt road at night, you know you are in something special!!
