From Brisbane - about to own an Aspire

Postby Emmanuel » Thu May 27, 2010 5:17 pm

Hi everyone,

Have ordered a 2010 Aspire (black, with sunroof and spoiler option).

Should be ready in a week and a half!

I used to own an 04 Mazda3 SP23., but it got written off in '08. It took me a while to decide on a new car, and I didn't like the goofy look of the new Mazda3s.

The Lancer looks great, and with 5yr warranty, leather, sunroof- hard car to beat at that price.

Welcome!
Good choice, wish I had a sunroof.

Into modding? Stupid question, you will be if you hang around here :P

That's how I found this place :)

Actually - I'm a real noob. I don't know where to start, but would be keen to do some performance mods.

How does doing things like upgrade the exhaust, changing air intakes/etc affect warranty?

Also, are there any decent chips/ ECUs that can make the car more 'fun'?

RPW, a club sponsor, does flash tunes for our cars. I've had it done, its definitely worth it (more performance for same/better economy).
You'll have to find someone to help you out with that though (RPW is in Perth so someone needs to scan it and send it over for you, idk if there is anyone in Brisbane that can though).

If you get a new exhaust, obviously the exhaust won't be covered by Mitsu's warranty, same for a new intake/panel filter.
Only way it'll affect anything else's warranty is if Mitsu can prove the new exhaust/intake caused the other thing to fail, which is VERY unlikely.

A lot of members are into handling upgrades too, such as bracing and strut bars, and lowering too. No warranty worries there. :)

Theres plenty of info here. Good to see other's experiences and decide what you're gonna do based of that. :D

Hi Emmanuel, welcome to the club.

Good to have another Aspire in the club.

Yes there are mods like exhaust and ECU tunes.

We have been waiting all year and they have just arrived at RPW last week. Here is a link http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=4630& ... pw+exhaust

Not sure yet what the performance will be or how loud the exhaust will be.

Soon a car will be fitted with RPW exhaust and put on a dyno and tuned.

We will then know the data.

Intake mods, there are a few. I have an RA intake. Some like SRI's.

Use the search on the top right of the page and you will find plenty to read.

Suspension there are some Ultra racing braces available to help stiffen the body. These can be bought from Ofey. Here is a link http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=2474&start=0

Thicker anti sway bars are being made up for our cars as well. They are from Whiteline. You can ask SIR-VRX if you want them. Still not too late. I ordered the handling for the front and sports for the rear. Here is a link http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=3622& ... sc&start=0

I hope that help.

If you need any help please just ask
