Northern Beaches, Sydney!

Postby Blackjack » Wed Mar 17, 2010 1:58 pm

Hey guys,

Im from Manly on the northern beaches.

Up to about 6 months ago, I drove a Blue 93 CC Lancer coupe. Then I bought (upgraded?) to a Blue 09 Lancer VRX .. :)

I love Lancers, and would love to drive an evo X some day down the track (maybe when I get a raise hey ;))

I love cruising round in my car, do trips to Palm Beach every so often with my best mate who drives a Gray 09 lancer VRX Sportback!

Planned upgrades I would like to accomplish with the car include, SRI, catback exhaust kit, maybe an ECU upgrade.. What is everyones general thoughts on what to upgrade first for best "bang for your buck" on the new VRX?

Cheers,

Welcome :)

The cheapest mod to get better performance is buying the stage1 tune from RPW. The only catch is that you need to get your ECU read and need the applicable cable for the laptop.

Peanut one of our members in Sydney has one, and my be able to bring it to a meet. Then once you get the tune back, someone needs to upload it to your car.

This is about $80 for the tune.

2nd would be a rear muffler. The system is not too bad, the main restriction is the rear muffler. This could be as cheap as $300 if you get a custom mild steel one done.

CAI doesn't really give you out right power but may give you a little bit better responsiveness. Pretty expensive mod though.

RPW Tune FTW

Mine is the best money I've spent on my car, and it's even better if you have a 2.4 !!

Hey Tom
Welcome to ClubCJ mate
The RPW flash tune is excellent bang for your buck
Exhaust mods always help too as well as induction to get the MIVEC breathing and responding more sharply.

Welcome to the club Tom.

I would wait a little for any engine mods. Our sponsor RPW have been testing all your mods trying to see what works and what doesn't.

It should only be weeks away now that we all know what to put on our cars to get the best bang for bucks.

The trouble with the Lancers are most countries only have 1.8-2.0L so any new parts are to small for our 2.4L

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and helpful responses.

I contacted MRT Performance and they recommended RPW too!

I emailed them for more info so hopefully ill get a response monday. I guess I will wait for more research if need be, it makes sense as the car is relatively new still.

Yeah i checked out some CJ lancers with a CAI on youtube, and they sound great!
